A little tip for all.. when looking at this sorta think steer the front into the wall a bit.. the fronts will try and climb a bit and bring the diff up a bit, thus less scraping..
But epic tracks..

Yes nice in theory Kallen. There were a couple of ways to get it done.
1. Take the chicken track running beside this track
2. Get the shovel out and cut the rut to allow the wheels to climb out and then drive on top of the ruts to the drivers side.
Neither of these options really drove the track though.
3. With a shovel cut along the side of the rut and place the dirt in the rut making it shallower and drive.
4. Skull drag.
Option 4 was the simplest way to get it don't.
In Clay ruts that are moist steering into the side is pointless unless you have big biters, even then wet clay can make a Simex ET look like an AT pretty smartly.
Using the side grip can work well in the Bic High Country where there is little clay but plenty of shale and Rock.
You can see on the vid that Winnie has got all 4 wheels spinning with Zero advantage. He was a passenger.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk cause AB turned it back on!!
And that's how you break beads.
Yeah first major use for self recovery. Very very very pleased with it!
I wanna say a thank you to Rossco and Mark for running around all day taking videos and photos, and a massive massive thank you to Darren who came a long way to navi for me. Couldn't have hoped for a better navi and he got a serious work out running my winch!
Here's my photos for the day,

Ellis track is pretty much straight off the bitumen. Lock the hubs, air down and straight into the pebbles. . . . I mean boulders!!

First obstacle. Decided to by bypass this one. No point risking major panel damage for the sake of it. Was still pretty technical to get around but was pretty much the only chicken track we took. Most of the chicken tracks are still pretty knarly, you'd be seriously pushing your luck trying to get up this track in something not well set up without doing some damage that's for sure, or getting seriously stuck.

Unfortunately for some there wasn't much damage for the day. Bent rim and a few scrapes on the bar work. This track has the potential for damage and we saw plenty of evidence of it. Rear bar, rock sliders and front bar are pretty much mandatory to avoid any nasty panel damage.

Again photos don't do it justice, but this was a pretty technical section with some pretty big boulders. Winnie drove well and punched it up out of the clay embankment. I was too slow running behind but would have made a good photo with the front of the car airborne.

Cemetery Track. Not a bad little climb, gets very slippery in the wet tho.

Every time I check in there's something new. Will wait for later night and go through the whole thing.
Looking good so far.
I have to say that although I was disappointed that the 4by wasn't ready and I didn't get to drive- it looked like heaps of fun, had an absolute great day, thanks to everyone, very happy running around getting photos and on the end of the winch on occasions - was great fun and a ripper day.
Yep didn't get any photos of the pizzas unfortunately but they were certainly yum :)
Rossco, your last lot of pics come up as invalid attachment on my puter.
