I apologise in advance if I offend but......
Really bloody cranky about baby boomers.......
Why do those who received a free education, fully funded healthcare and reasonably retirement age of 65 now create a situation where I will have to pay for all their health care and benefits through increased taxes while I work until I'm forkin' 70? First you made my generation pay for the education you got for free, never paid enough tax during the boom times to support our future infrastructure development and now this......WTF? How about putting your hand in your pocket you pr!cks and save GenX and those that follow the pain of paying for you......again.
EDIT: while living in/with the environmental disaster we will inherit.
Rant over.

Tell us what ya really think Drew :)
The only thing wrong with your argument drew is most of the govt are not baby boomers, yes we got things free but not our doing but that of successive governments that have created the current situation. I for one will probably still be working at 70!
I am 72 Years of Age and have only just Retired.
The Government have to put up the Retirement Age as we cant afford to Pay for the Pensions and Benefits.
Nor can we afford to pay for NIDS , the NBN. (Reasonable Social Programs but we cant afford them).
BTW Drew I have supported myself to date and have paid Taxes all my Life so if and when I do access some Aged Care benefits I wont have a conscience
Sitting at work, talking to people who are sh*t worried they will not have a job at the end of this restructure (100+ definitely will not) Hearing about how the new organisation is trying to get some people to take lower pay for same roles or if they cannot secure same level but lower some pay cuts are $30k.
In the same breath I am told that I am to fly to Melb to work on the upcoming insurance strategy when ALL staff, brokers etc are here in TAS.
All up this will mean accommodation, flights ect for 5 people, seriously WTF junket or what????
Then there will be a trip to the UK later in the year, also not required as we did it last year and no one over there is expecting us, but hey the exec wants to go.
How is it they tell staff that they need to take lower pay to make the company cost effective and in the same breath organise junkets that will cost in excess of $30k ??? Gives a great impression
As a boilermaker how the hell do I work to 70 years old? I'll be deaf blind carpel tunnel broken back with a hunch from welding with skin and lung cancers! Plus try keep my job from young fit men if times are tough now in 42 years when I'm 70 how will a company support a slow old man?
The Price of Fuel which goes up every Long Weekend or Holiday.
Governments are not the slightest bit interested in investigating this as they reap increased Tax on every increase.
