What size is your 24v alternator?
Nice mate. What clearance have you got between it and the battery tray??
How well do the motor windings like double the voltage?
Love it mate. Nearly everyone I know that has a himount is running 24v through their 6hp 12v motors. Apparently there is a possibility of wearing out the brushes faster but there are no complaints.
Avoiding winching out and stopping the run-on by switching the opposite would not be pretty but the thing bloody fly mate and pull like a 14 year old. ;)
I am fitting a Deltatek Air Freespool and a GigglePin brake shaft and fitting an Allbright Solenoid. This thing will be a beast mate!
The last couple of trips out with some of the Vic guys they have seen a Himount used for the first time on Liftlids car, they reckon they are great! My 24v setup will Blow them away!!
Mine has been used twice now. I pulled down a tree in the back yard and moved a dead tree blocking the entrance to shit creek.
I dont like using it on the track... winching is failure :p
This is Failure mate Vvvvvvvv Quadruple Line Pull.

Why dont you come up here and I will show you how to not use it :p
Hmmm your 1000th post better mention these again

Just having another look at your picks and I like mate. I think that's were ill fit my endless air step up.
Was looking at my stock setup and scratching my head. But moving the steering pump over makes a lot of sense. Much simpler than trying to mount under near chassis.
So next question is does the pump belt squeal?
Fair enough. Nice mod either way
Howqua River and Bluff Hut, my favourite places!
A true mud runner. I h8 mud!
Ok been busy under the hood over the last month. I am getting a few things sorted while it's parked up. I am getting it ready for a bigger airbox and hopefully a stainless snorkel through the bonnet at some point.
I have moved the Fuel Primer pump and the vacuum tank to the drivers side and stripped a heap of other crap off the fire wall. I removed the clutch bleed hose and tube and replace the hose and block to allow for the removal of the extra bleed.
This is a Big Job and will take some nutting out to put Humpty Dumpty back together again but it's getting there
Before.

Fuel primer now attached to drivers side battery tray just above the fuel pump. The copper fuel pines across the fire wall are gone.

I relocated the vacuum tank and used the copper tube as the primary supply to the tank rather than from the tank just to the clutch

Getting there

Stripped out the clutch bleed valve as it's pointless. Phill at the 4WD Shed sells a replacement hose and block without the bleed for the win.
Attachment 52125
Removed the redundant dual battery solenoid and wiring and pulled back a few wires that were no longer being used.
I am going to move the fuse block and have to remount it and sort out al the accessories that were going to the second battery that no longer exists. A bit to do yet but it's coming together

Yep looks like a real pain in the ass.. Time consuming kind of work.
Not bad. I've always wondered why the fuel comes down the drivers side, up across the fire wall to the filter then back over the firewall to the pump. Weird
Also did you mold steel line to new positions or just run rubber hose?
Hi Kallen, yeah has always had me too. Just dumb. So the fuel lines come from the back along the right side in copper or steel. Then a rubber fuel line for about 300mm to another copper fuel line that goes across the rear fire wall to the passenger side and then rubber again the the primer pump. From there it's rubber back to another copper line across the fire wall to another rubber fuel line from there to the pump!!! Just a big loop of pointlessness!!!
I got a bracket of a later model GU that runs the primer on the drivers side, there was stuff in the way to fit in the same spot so I cut it up and made it fit off the battery tray. I then removed the big loop. The clutch bleed was worse!! All this massive loop of copper tube to nowhere!
When I have finished I will take a pic of the pile of crap I have stripped off!
The Vacuum on the drivers side makes so much sense too!! Really pleased with how it is coming together.
Mega you are right, just chipping away at it mate, tedious and time consuming. I have to complete each task as I go, there was just a rediculous amount of stuff finishing in that corner!!!
After advice from Gary I put the filter on the drivers side when I did my conversion... even has the holes there ready for it.

Yeah my brake lines were in the way to use those holes but did consider them, it was just going to add more work so decided against that spot. I had a good look at it and tried to get the bracket in there. I have mine mounted where you have put your catch can.
hey dude what page of this MASSIVE thread do I go to for the high mount install. im just trying to see where and what and how when it comes to water or oil lines and drain etc
Lol. I assume your talking aout the Himount winch. The first group of Himount winch pics would be in the first 10 pages I reckon depending on how many posts per page your set at. When I started the thread I was basically finished the car so rolled them all out quickly. The winch was done up first then.
I am currently rebuilding the winch again and have it out of the car and completely stripped down. Let me know what you want pics of and I will take a couple for you. The cases have just been painted and I have not reassembled it yet.
shit sorry dude was meaning the turbo. sorry should have been more specific
Hahaha. Yeah had a feeling you might have been. My turbo is a low mount and is a full MTQ system. I had it fitted by a shop though way back when. If your chasing pics and info on a Hi Mount Turbo setup your best to ask Bloody Aussie as he has just fitted one to his new TD.

Bump for tappa talk
Thank FARK for tappa!!! Been slack on this thread as I have struggled with pics until now.
Been a busy year, car has been parked up and have been sorting out my 24v for my winch. It's nearlly ready to go but while it's been parked I have also stripped out a heap of junk wiring. I have also made space for a 4" snorkel through the bonnet and big airbox in the future..
Some wiring mods.

Gone for a Custom made Big Mouth SS fairlead, you can now buy these on eBay, mine is the one in the pic as it was the first one he made in the bigger size. The big mouth will allow a Brocken plasma to have a knot tied in it and still got through the opening
