I love Nowra.... NSW south coast is probably one of my favourite places in the country.
It's on the cards BA. I just need to do it.
Definitely my favourite build so far mate, what else have you got planned?
Thanks grahamap. It's a never ending project. There's lots that I want to do. Pull out the roof lining and dynamat it. Rebuild the front swivels, chuck new rims on it, roof rack back on, new clutch, rebuild the gearbox.... It goes on. It's become more of a hobby than anything.
Andrew you make me sick....blah!!! come and hobby my car then !!!!
Ha ha ha.... no really come and hobby my car..... actually mate my next big thing other than my gearbox debacle is doing the dynamat as my car is way to noisy.... how much will I need to do my car do you think?
Where is the best place to buy it...?
Hahaha, my wife would kill me dead if I had another car to play with. I'm surprised I'm still alive actually. I told her about the steering box last night and yeah, not fun.
My advice BA is to get either the dynamat or another Butyl based sound deadener off eBay. So much cheaper than going to autobarn and buying it. Dynamat is pretty expensive, I think Westy tried another one of the butyl alternatives and had good success. This coupled with the sound deadening foam on top has great results. Especially if you pull the dash out and do the firewall.
I bought 2 of the 36square foot boxes off eBay and this has done the firewall, flooring up to but not including the cargo area and the four front doors. I've got fatmat in the cargo area, but this stuff is ashpalt based and smells like tar when it gets hot. Plus it melts and never actually was designed as a sound deadener, it just has been marketed as one by some clever people. You can buy this stuff at bunnings for very cheap, where it's sold as a roof tape or something along those lines.
Drag link arrived today, just in time for the long weekend.
I think I have the ends sussed out with regards to which one is the gu tie rod end using the P/N off them, but is there a very simple way to check?
