Decided to cover up the front side of the cargo barrier and also make the head impact area a bit safer, I used 8mm ply and its mounted off the cargo barrier - turned out great.Attachment 80991
It is hinged at the bottom with piano hinge, so easy enough to get to the gear mounted on the cargo barrier back side.
Drove the Trol out of the garage and back in. Most I've touched it in the last 7 days.
Haven't bought fuel for 6 weeks.
I have bolted it thru the cargo barrier in both top corners, 80mm x M8 with offstand nuts to get it vertical and hold in place. You can just see one of the bolts/nuts on the bottom left hand of the photo
Wired the hydraulic winch back up after 11 months disconnected, ran it in and out twice, all good. Did the same for the rear electric winch, good to exercise them and get them warm. Think I may have isolated the squeaking noise - the bonnet release mechanism bolts were loose from a previous activity, now bonnet closes and squeak has disappeared - for now.
Waiting on the replacement Couplertec unit to arrive - warranty return, and the big w2a pump is on its way from NSW to Vic.
Did my wheel rotation this afternoon and notice that the disk was wet, not alot but enough to my attention. Undid the brake caliper to get a better look. Is this a leaking axel seal? It's the rear right hand side if that makes a difference
The last pic isn't wet, fair bit of guck tho.http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...2020/05/99.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...020/05/100.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...020/05/101.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...020/05/102.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...020/05/103.jpg

Bugger. The stuff on top looks like brake fluid to my untrained eye. Does the fluid pong like gearbox oil or Dot 3?
Now that you mentioned it. Yeah, probably is brake fluid. Best I have another look. Not today I've put everything away. I will check the fluid level..

Absolutely naught! Was planning to do some stuff but I was to then stay at my dads place and help him out as he’s just got home from having a major back op. But to only spoil this yesterday stuffing my own back therefore rendering me useless. So some diazepam washed down with wine and whiskey and I’m good as gold! Well I can’t feel much atleast.

I have installed a Perspex Cargo Barrier in the GUIV. I Like it alot. clear view out the back and better for the AC in the Summer too. Clear Perspex bolted directy to the Mitford frame (No Mesh). It was a Mitford Option actually. I scored it a few years ago and over Christmas cut it up to fit above the rear drawers for the Tassie trip It works a treat.
paid the rego.
Diazepam & whiskey - sounds like my brekky at 1am before going to work @mudski 👍🏻
Propped the roofrack up one side at a time, replaced the rubber 'U' piece under the support rail in the roof gutter, cleaned the gutter out, doused it with rust converter for good measure - @Nhoward has me paranoid, then masked off a 10mm band of the roof behind the rail and applied two coats of charcoal rust paint, repainted the tradesman clamps black and bolted it all back down, another 'stitch in time' job I reckon.
Ordered these rims and getting fitted tuesday

Tracked down a water leak on the new W2A circuit, slightly loose hose clamp but at 20psi the water was leaking out. Started into the second row seat platforms using old seat frames - will weld them up tomorrow and post the results. Fixed up the passenger front wheel-well guarding that was hanging down from my coolant tank activities - lost all the damn screws so had to wait for a pile from PAP to arrive. Re-tapped the front seat mount holes - started to cross thread after all the times the seats have been removed, and bought new bolts to suit. Going to have a go at the cruise control tomorrow - last thing on the list and have been avoiding it to be honest!
Second row seat platform. I have two to make, had a brain fade this morning and com0leted the wrong/preferred side - so maybe tomorrow the other side will get done!Attachment 81155
Where does that go Phil? Trying to picture it in the truck. Solid looking snatch points.
I stripped down two second row seat frames, discarded the back of the seat, removed the padding and added the 3mm flat sheet and a piece of 40 x 40 angle iron to level it up. The mounts are 'little ear rings ' I found on site in a scrap bin, simply too small for anything we do up there, so will use them as the anchor points for the 29L Engel I will use as a dedicated freezer. The frame tilts out of the way like the second row seat. If I had made the right one it would have been obvious- sorry about that! The orange strap is the standard seat release strap on the GQ
Ah yep, makes sense. I thought that was why you used those hooks, saves having to make something.
@Avo Noice. Hey have you thought about protection for the sides? Like clear wrap or some of that stuff I think it's called Rhino Hide or something??? Looks so bloody nice, just too hard to go and scratch it up
I have looked at bush barriers....they do look good
To be honest where we live after this photo I drove home 40 km and it was filthy...just off the road not even on gravel..somethinv you get use to...when we go to the city we wash it n make it look nice, otherwise,it's a car

Completed the second rear seat frame, all painted, just stuck a layer of softish poly foam to add some cushioning, should do the trick.
I actually did something other than move it out of the garage for a change.
Replaced, oil, air & fuel filters & engine oil.
Cleaned out catch can and cleaned MAF.
Lubed up shock adjusters & cut my thumb.
Having fitted both a new headlight wiring harness & a LED lightbar I waited for a nice dark night, before the moon came up over the nearby hill to see what they were like. In short 'Incredible'. I suppose everyone here who has fitted a light bar or has a mate with one already knows how bright they are, but I had only seen videos of them in action. Last night was the night - very impressive. I did note too that my headlights are whiter & brighter, & whilst effective my old IPF driving lights are very yellow in comparison. The headlight aim was way off in both planes though, & the IPF's needed adjustment as I had previously had them pointing outward to illuminate the sides of the dirt road I used to live on, in order to be able to see the wombats , roos & deer. I am confident that the lightbar will take care of that function now, more importantly if/when we find ourselves driving rough & washed out outback tracks at night again, that I will now be able to see just what I'm driving on! Has to be a good thing! :)
The lightbar came with it's own wiring harness intended to connect in to a standard set up. Likewise the Pirahana Superloom was designed for much the same, & of course the Ex Telstra had already had work, adding Nissan branded relays for the IPF's. In the end it was fairly simple to work out what wires to use & not use. I have chosen to leave the switch for the lightbar under the bonnet for the time being. I used the existing IPF wiring, post Telstra relay, to trigger the lightbar's relay, & so I am using a single switch on the dash to turn both lightbar & IPF's on together when on high beam. This will be my 'Offroad' set up. For on road I just switch the lightbar off under the bonnet
Will go out for a drive tonight to check my aiming adjustments done undercover today using the huge sliding doors to aim at, surprisingly it was dark enough to see what I was doing.
There are a pair of H3 Philips 'White Vision Ultra' 55w globes in the post to fit in the IPF's when they arrive. They are advertised as the whitest halogens which are road legal, & +60% distance. I'm hoping they will be better than the very yellow Repco 100w +30 globes currently in them & give the alternator an easier time too.
Whilst the lightbar is super bright (Stedi 27.5" single row 3301) I was pleased that when switching to dip beam - just the headlights, that I could still see reasonably well & it isn't like momentary blindness.

We had to replace the power steering pump on the old 1995 GQ work ute :-(
I always assumed they were good for 30 years, not a measly 25 :-)
