Thanks NH. Stupid Ask has taken over Explorer again. DOH!!.
And this little fella has just appeared on Chrome. We have avast anti virus but it hasn't cited it as a problem.
hey mudnut, take a look down the bottom right of your computer near the speaker and take a screenshot and upload it here please. humor me, i reckon you have a virus.
FYI, any anti virus is essentially useless once a person uses the computer.... i know it may sound stupid but the minute a person( who has full control over the computer) anti virus programs can warn you and do their best to steer you clear of viruses BUT at the end of the day, defending against viruses is up to the user. i run no anti virus on my home computer, i have never got anything malicious on my computer because everytime i click my mouse i know exactly what i am clicking.
now there are people on here who disagree with my thoughts but it works for me, and everyone else who i have educated on responsible computer use.
so anyway, take a screen shot of you system tray and well take it from there, ill keep an eye on this thread till we get you sorted
If you are browsing Chrome as multible users you can change the symbol for each user, so depending which user you are using will display a different icon. This can be changed in settings mode

That will be it, thanks NH.
Here is the toolbar.
Also I have been remiss letting rkinsey know that I can't install the drivers for the arduino, as I need to be a system administrator as the computer came with software already installed.
So I will have to contact my computer savvy mate as he has to leave town for permanent work in W.A.
That's just a driver update. Can't use it until I get the admin password. As for skype I reckon I could get five minutes before my data would be gone. LOL.
wait, you have a program that updates your drivers? that sounds like a malicious program to me, what is the exact name of it?
exactly, reminds me of somthing just like http://botcrawl.com/remove-driver-update-virus/
Get a program called MalwareBytes. Bloody good program. I haven't used any A/V for years now, well I have but it hasn't updated since 2007, lol, and only use Malwarebytes on the odd occasion. But it all depends on what kind of sites you look at too I suppose.
Malwarebytes is great for removing those browser hijackers and alike. but you need to create a system restore point before doing so. As sometimes it will remove that much junk, your pc won't be used to it and refuse to boot.
Thanks, blokes. I unstalled the driver update search and all seems to be running better. Cheers. I did have malware bytes at one stage and the computer went nuts, so I unstalled it and the computer came good. Must have been a software conflict.
the best malware defense is commonsense mate, if it looks even just a little suspect dont click it. if you are ever unsure what your agreeing to, stop and take a minute to figure it out. you get better at it the more you do it. PM me next time if you have any problems. after all i do this for a living =D
also there may be some left overs from the driver update program like other apps that its installed insitu with the driver update program. if you take a look at your installed programs list, sort it by date installed and if anything that was installed around the same day at the update program is there, that looks a little sus, i'd get rid of those too!
Thanks RN. It's just like when I tried to down load the GU manual which is powered by stupid !@#$%^ ASK. It took over the browser and search engine and mudnutette had to show me how to reset it back to google. Then Ask took over and shut the setting for google out, so my tech savvy mate swapped it back.
And No! I am not looking to down grade to a GU, but I want to learn how the gauge cluster works.
Ex-farkin-actly !!
If an add, says "Your IP has been selected for a free iPhone", well duh! DO the maths... Don't click on it. And they are getting very clever, when it comes to hiding these adds, and some are incredibly personalized. Like for example if you've been browsing eBay for GU parts, you will see random adds, across some other websites, completely unrelated to eBay OR Patrols, advertising, GU parts! More often then not, these are just popups, spelling trouble.
I'm over getting customers back (building PC's is kind of a second job for me), with a completely bloated systems, just riddled with crap installed by them simply clicking random useless junk.
I've been using Windows 7 with the free Microsoft Security Essentials from day 1. And have not had a SINGLE virus or infestation of any type. All due to not clicking on stuff like " FREE scan system optimizer" etc etc...
Rusty_nail hit the nail... on the head.
Common sense.
Yeah I used to do the same a few years back. Had a good customer base, mostly elderly toward the end.
But got sick of getting 30 calls a day and trying to explain to them where the power button was.
Then there was the gaming pc builds for say a customers teenage son. You'd get a call saying the pc wont turn on anymore and you'd find three inches of dust in the thing, so it was overheating. Or it was plagued with viruses because of the porn sites they'd been in. Funniest is asking them about those sites and they deny the lot.
I love porn sites, I don't care what viruses I download :) I have no money for anyone 2 steal and they can steal my ID if they really feel the need 2 be me :)
Probably a general question with LOTS of different answers, but I need to buy a new lappy. Old one has finally carked it.. Best brand, value for money etc ? Or maybe what NOT to buy.. I do alot of downloading, and lots of pic storage. Not interested in a tablet or note book. The touch screen/convertible ones any good ? Wireless/wifi/bluetooth I guess would be standard these days. Last one was an ACER, did good job, lasted about 5 years.
Why do I have a McAfee mobile security reminder popping up on my mobile and how do I get rid if it?
I've had the phone for about a year and never had the McAfee app installed (although I think it may have been there all along) but a couple of months ago the little icon started popping up in my notifications bar..... It tells me to register so it can begin protecting my phone.
Doesn't look fake.
Yeah can you find it in apps?
hey kat i missed this. so build quality, i think asus make the best laptops on the market, although they are more upmarket and therefore more expensive. a more mid range computer that i think would suit someone like yourself would be the Toshiba Z30.
also, did you know that Amazon US do international shipping now? i havent been able to find a cheaper place to buy even after shipping but if you want to buy local JBHiFi are usually cheaper than most. DONT go to Harvey Norman, they are a rip off.
Like Kris said, dont go looking for a particular model, go looking for a list of specs and make sure that the computer meets these specs:
Minimum Requirements:
1TB HDD
8GB Ram
Intel i5 Processor or AMD equivalent.
anything with those 3 specs will be a fairly decent computer and should last you around the next 4-5 years
Sweet, I'll give it a go
Hmmmm..... It's not there. Oh well, it hasn't popped back up after uninstalling last time... All good for now.
