Fark yeah boys, job well done!!!
Time to test it out ...lol
Woohoo! Now wire it up fellas!
AB look very pleased! !!!!!
Nice one. Hows the grill clearance, doesn't look too hacked at all. . .
There is something missing which is kind of important.
AB just left. All fitted up, grill came up a winner. Main cables crimped and fitted. Ran out of time to wire up the switching side. Sat down and drew up a diagram and ran through everything for an Isolation switch, in cab controllers and Grill mounted switches for use by the Navi. All through the isolation switch though. AB is stoked.
He had an early Christmas today. I gave him a Rope too which has only done a few pulls but I broke and bush spliced it then replaced it. Will make a great rope with an hours work to splice properly.
Done and dusted.
I am more then stoked, you sir are awesome!!!
A million thankyous for your help today.
This wasn't a rebuild of a highmount, it's a very pro complete restoration with some awesome upgrades purely from your knowledge of using them a million times and finding out problems with them.
I walked away with a huge smile and some extra goodies!!!
My beast is almost complete!!!
To finish of tomorrow...
Wire up isolator to winch in/out in cab and grille controllers and led light over drum.
New terminal for negative battery.
Boots on positive terminals.
Fix cb aerial
New bolts for winch mount/fairlead.
Hook and fix rope
I put Darren's chrome grille on my gq and it looked hot, I'll get one of them ;)
I'm trying to remember everything whilst it's fresh in my head...anything else???
Bugger... We didn't tighten up the drain plug...lol
How much and what oil did we use?
Bugger, I can't find those water proof switches for the grille...
Did I leave them at your place???
Where abouts on the grille are you going to mount them? Can you share the diagram that Darren drew up for you?
I put something in your centre vonsole? Was that the boots?
Not here mate
Just found your switches on my Desk in my Office bloke!!!!
Hope you've been busy today AB... We are all eagerly waiting for an update!
And re splice the rope, get a hook, grease some nipples, fix up the drain plug and put oil in ;)
Enjoy ;).....
Hmm need a photo of that drum light, what type it is etc... Awesome idea! Not yours I'm sure ;)
Does it just come on when you switch power to the winch?
It's just a little narva led light. I can't remember what type, Darren? It mounted perfectly underneath the light bar!
Does that have a magnet or double sided or something?
Yep I've got some of that stuff too, unbelievable stuff really!
Love the idea of the light though, you'll be bloody glad you did that the first time you winch in the dark
The light works a treat. I have had one on the back of the front number plate since Noah was a boy. It is just a Narva Truck marker light. It is powered by the winch isolator switch in the cab. When the isolator is turn on and the winch has power the light is always On. Turn the winch off and the light goes off.
The grill switches are water proof Momentary On switches mounted in the side of the left hand side headlight surround. The Navi can winch in and winch out when managing the spool without having to yell you instructions. You can also use these at home when responding your new rope and in a solo self recovery where you might have to be out of the vehicle. Power to these switches is on the same circuit as the LED Narva light above.
Looking good AB
AB even came up with the idea of mounting the light under the light bar!!!! He knows Stuff...............all. :p
