Was talking to the old man last night about sharpening, he used to use cardboard and brasso to finishes his knives when he used to serve
as I'm an ex sewing machine technician, On button hole machines I used Brasso and a fine wet/dry, then buffed the blade
But see where your father is going, would be similar with a paste on glass. Its easy getting them sharp,
IMO its staying sharp is the problem, my butcher knives went dull very quick when carving up a Killer.
@ OD when everyone gets back to work I'll get the laser cutter to cut some knife displays.
Thinking the same as for a Japanese Katana only scaled down.
Max of 3 knives per stand {folders]
Katana will be large size folders will be small size and one in between for fixed blade.

Japanese Water Stones are the best to put an decent edge on a knife, followed by a very fine cut steel.............will try and remember who I got my water stone off as it was a very reasonable price.

I believe it's a 1974 model. It has a genuine elk horn handle, folding guard, locking blade (when closed and opened) original leather sheath
