No worries. I hope he enjoys it.
Hey all. As for my groups I shoot at the top of my breath. My groups could be tighter but just using factory ammo not reloads yet.
As for the rabbit, fox rifle. 17hmr for 100m shots but no wind and most expensive. 22 magnum for up to 75m shots cost moderate. The humble 22 good for up to 50m for fox and rabbit very cheap as in 40-70 bucks for 500 rounds.
I bought a 22 for cheap ammo and I can sneak up on our rabbit warrens and I have my 22/250 for foxes as they are big and flighty.
Go with a 17hmr best of everything. If you're worried about ammo cost then give up shooting haha
I worry about ammo cost, so I make reloads for my 223 & 303 and will be running some up for the 30-06 soon as I get some projectiles for it.
I'm playing the reload game ATM and it's expensive to set up and probably not worth it if only shooting 50 rounds a year with die reloading gear tumblers the time it takes to work up a load and find one that shoots tight but that's half the fun of it.
I use a very simple setup, I use a lee priming tool for seating primers, and I use a Lee hand loader for the actual loading and neck sizing. Cheap and portable.

(I use the lee priming tool now over the manual priming method in the vid because I am a gorilla fisted clown and have set off the odd primer by tapping too hard and I weigh my powder loads with a small digital scale. Can still knock out about 20 rounds comfortably in an hour)
Have you blokes worked out the cost difference for say 20 rounds. I'm just curious on what kind of saving are to be had as 20 round in an hr! I'd want a good saving to spend my time doing it lol
How'd you go on the hunting trip macca
Hunting trip was slow got rained in and everything went quiet. Was still a good trip but not many notches in the belt.
He reckons 35 bucks for 50 shots is good value. To me that sounds like expensive bunnies for tea, though.
My butcher sells rabbit fir $15 each. The wild rabbit at stanthorpe in a tourist shop are $27 each and the venison rump is $70 a kg. bloody ridiculous!
