The rotors are only 24mm bigger arent they, will that give better brake efficiency
4.8s are 330mm compared to 306mm
will 16 x 8 rims fit ???
It was an agro impulse buy, gotta love hitting stuff
I now have about 7
You can just use calipers and even no backing plate. As some have done so. But if one is going to do an upgrade. Do teh lot I reckon. :D So you need...
- Calipers
- Backing plates
- Pads ( all the aftermarket mobs sell the same part number for the ZD pads to the TB pads. Even though there is a physical difference in pad size) So I opted for Genuine Pads for the first time around.
- Master Cylinder
I was extremely lucky with the calipers. I wasnt even looking for them as I had hunted earlier for them and all said good luck if you can find them, and if you do they will be around $600-$700 a pair. Second Hand! Woah!So this quickly extinguished my thoughts on it. But I had rung a wreckers up north for something else and I just asked out of the blue if they had them and how much. He said yeah I do and they are $270. For the pair with freight! So I whipped out the credit card and bought them.
Got hem home stripped them, rebuilt them with two new pistons too. as two of the four had a little pitting from rust.
Now they are brand new again.
Nah they are 10mm bigger. 306mm to 316mm. But its not the rotor size its the caliper piston size (48.1mm to 51.1mm) and master cylinder piston sizes aswell (25.4mm to 26.99mm) that all add up. All this, plus the braided lines I already have on there will be a big difference I would say. And 16 inch rims do fit as the early TB48 Patrols were on 16's.
I will rebuild the rear calipers to while I'm at it. I was trying to find a second hand set cheap enough so I could rebuild them and just do a swap over when its time. But I'm failing to find them. At the right price.
