Well, I’m enjoying my $28 snittys tonight that I bought in Birdsville because I thought I would run out of food.
Go me lol

Correct not one tyre puncture, but 3 windscreens will need replacement..
Here's mine.
Along with the screen a couple minor issues all due to the corrugations.
Lost both LHS sway bar link nuts, screws fell out of the rear of the overhead console, cable ties holding it up now and the wire worked its way out of the back of the brake light plug.

For sure!
I printed out an Excel table with a list and qty of meals and just crossed them off when used.
Each morning lachy and I just sat in the car warming it up and discussed the menu for tonight’s meal, take it out of freezer and tick it off.
Worked brilliantly!

Yep 100% so much easier and the space saving is amazing. Run a small fridge and even with stuff for the little fella had heaps of room didn't even have to do the beer out beer in trick to maximise space. Taken a while but have re thought the food camping thing over the years no more salads for sandwiches that take up a heap of space and go mankey in a few days, camp roasts and the like are great but a bit of a novelty especially on trips where it's go go. . The only issue I had was running a small old Engel as a freezer combined with my old Engie fridge which even with a Lithium was pretty power hungry. .
The old GQ did well but found the alternator was a bit weak keeping the BCDC running plus other stuff, unfortunately it seems hard to get a good reliable alternator when restricted to having a vac pump on the back on the silvertop TD but looks like QIKAZZ are doing a genuine Hitachi 90A one which might be the go. Apart from that had a slight water leak that came and went from the water pump I think so will swap that out with a new one and just about to give the old girl a well deserved wash now. . Weather a bit better now than yesterday when we got back was very wild & wintery. . .

Ross maybe consider a larger unit without the vac pump and run an electric vac pump? Opens up the opportunities and functionally the same. I have a Proflow vac pump that I will be mounting should and when the chev mech vac pump dies. There are plenty around, you dont need a big on, plumb it into the cac recervoir and job done.
Actually the unit and part number is in my near latest thread about the center console. I understand they are a good unit.
I've just spent two days cleaning the car and it's finally back to normal. We were very lucky not to receive a puncture because if we had, we would have been in trouble.
We put some fancy new aftermaket alloy wheels on it about 6 months ago and haven't needed to remove a wheel yet, but I took them all off to clean the car now.
It turns out you need a special slim socket to get into the nuts which was given to us by the tyre shop but we were not carrying. Also the shop torqued the nuts to 73 ugga duggas which I needed to use a 3 foot breaker bar to get undone.
If you ever get new wheels installed please PLEASE test you can remove them at home first!

Yeah so pasta cook as normal in the pot.
No, I literally just defrosted the meals and pushed the food to the bottom of the bag and let it sit in a deep dish fry pan on a gentle simmer for 10mins.
With rice just leave it in the bag (usual microwave pack ones) in the same pan.
I found leaving the rice bag unopened and on the simmer for 5 mins first then add the food bag for another 10 mins and the last 5 mins open the rice bag and sit it up right.

I used to cook normal rice camping but the microwave pre cooked bags are another winning Daztip have picked up and never looked back. So quick and easy and already cooked to perfection your just heating it up[emoji106][emoji106] .

Yeah they are just a little plastic bag of pre cooked rice which needs to be warmed up. I would never use them at home but for camping they are a winner! Daz is certainly a pioneer of the camp cooking hacks. Remember the chicken skewers which never fit in the pan? Just remove the chicken from the stick and cook it, genius!

I envy you lot. One of these days Bec and myself will make it to one of these meet ups again. The last one was the Qld meetup at Neurum Creek many years ago. If I remember we had a shit load of cars and families turn up for that. That was a week of patrol family fun. I think in total vehicles over that week was 70+ different 4x4's and folks from the east to west and north to south. A lot of new members have come and gone since then. Thanks for the pics peeps.

LOL, where do you find this kind of stuff MB? The students stuffing with the chucking a sickie attempts was hilarious.
Arrived home Saturday night at 1800, tired and the canopy isin need of repair but what an awesome trip, the goog s track was more challenging than the Simpson especially having to tie the canopy to the chassis to get home 🤣 bit over 10,000klm for me.
When I fix the canopy I’m ready to go again.
Check what came out yesterday on my "check every morning" site:
