Operation: Big Juicy Flaps... AWAY!!!
Went out and picked up 2000x1200x4mm reinforced rubber matting for around $90 and 2 lengths of box section 30x30x450mm for $10. Measured out and cut to make some new flares for the wider tyres in an attempt to keep transport off my back with these wide tyres.

These weren't really suitable anymore.

This is how I used the new box section, I just hope transport don't mind. :( if not I'll cut it down a bit and help support the rubber with wire or something.

Next I measured out what I would need to make the flare and the mud flap out of the one bit.
NEK Minnit....

And then the rain set in so I still haven't finished one but they are all cut out and ready to go. They won't be the best looking, but will be functional and affordable.

So the rear is all flapped up now, not real happy with the way it looks but oh well. I ended up cutting the box section off level with the body, it looked dodgy as! Would have probably disemboweled somebody if I happened to clip them in some freak accident.
I'll prob do the fronts through the week as I'm still waiting for the new 15x10-78 rims to show up.

I finally got around to driving her off road with all the new gear on. Did I hear some ask how it went?? Unstoppable!! Went everywhere I wanted to and only had 1 spot of trouble... When I hit a hole in RWD, selected 4wd Lo and off we went :)

Went out Mawbanna and hit up the power line track, then took a track from there to the crayfish creek caravan park and did the loop tracks on the way. I will upload some videos tomorrow if I get time.

I took this photo today of my two patrols, I wish the other one was standard so we could see the difference. Attachment 22988

So I finally got around to getting some longer chain do the mud flaps could hang properly. I'm happy with how they turned out in the long run.

Sure has the wide look now. :)

Interesting thing happened when I took her out bush last, the -78 offset 10" wide rims made me sit up on top of the ruts for the most of it, well at least 50% of the tyre was up on the top of the ruts and the other time the sidewalls were biting into the ruts allowing heaps of grip. While we are talking tyres, one of my new kevlars kept on slowly going flat. Then one night after a short trek off road I was doing around 50 around a corner and it finally let go, instantly went flat... This is what caused it :/
Attachment 23128
The sidewall didn't have enough rubber payed down before the Kevlar and what ever else goes into a side wall went in. This was the inside side of the tyre so it went unnoticed. You could push it in very easy around the spot about the size of a tennis ball. It was replaced next day for free :)

Well they sure are fat flaps!
I saw you in wynyard on the weekend:-)
Is that a mickey Thomson Kevlar tyre?
