I do have a serious concern Pretty Please @Sprock Mate, there aint no wood for decent miles around Licola region after the Covid release Vans rolled on in the valley.
3 <>4 days of circular PIT heat achievable locally Old Mate or should we ALL trailer haul a Little BIT in EACH [emoji120][emoji120]

Yep happy to do sum chopp'n, reckon if we head up Jam Licola Rd can find a fair bit could also grab some on way through if needed or do a mish once there . .

So being as we are edging closer to this fabled trip, I need some advice possibly. So I will have 3 kids with me. The oldest being 7 and the youngest being 18 months. Do I need to be looking at any specific clothing for warmth with them? Also any specific vehicle requirements while in the licola area. I obviously have a 4wd but things like fuel requirements or snow chains? It does get cold up here but the only long pants I own are work pants and a pair of jeans lol.
So looking forward to this. Flights have been booked for the wife to fly down with the kids. Now I just need the time to hurry up and disappear.
Oh YAY yeah can't wait should be good. . Hopefully good bit of snow up the top so warm clothes a must, pants, beanie jacket and gloves. . Work pants will be fine. Will have a roaring fire back at the village so that will be toasty as. . Fuel will be fine just fill up at Heyfield don't even need adative for diesel as not staying up the top Rd is dirt too so no need for chains. . Usually have the option of an afternoon 4WD loop down B1 track & Mt Margaret or head back down to village for arvo relax whatever floats each others boats. .

In regards the Littlens Mat Mate [emoji106][emoji106]
Don’t bother spending big money on snow gear for this trip. As Rossco kindly mentioned our base camp is below 300mASL and generally quite warm, especially around Sprockstar’s bonfires and cabins have heaters.
Up top at Arbunkle Junction Saturday Fun Day (circa 1,400m ASL) we’re honestly only a few hours outside of vehicles for Littlens fun.
We’ve always survived with our Hillbilly Littlens wearing cheap plastic cover pants, gumboots and gaffa tape joints [emoji23]
Plenty of thick socks, gloves and replacement tracky dacks would suffice IMHO [emoji1696][emoji1696]

As mentioned Matty, don’t waste money on snow gear.
Buy gloves though and a hoodie jacket or a beanie is a must.

Throwing snow with kids gets cold with no gloves.

We’ve been known to light a fire up in the snow so warmth shouldn’t be an issue- but I think you’re from QLD so anything less than 27degrees & 90% humidity & you’ll be freakin out haha
Just throw a spare change of clothes in the car for the kids when we go up to the snow, they WILL get wet.

Take me off the list please AB just won't have the coin to do this and a few other things that have been planned around same time. Gotta make some things priorities like bills [emoji24]

Oh no ! Won’t be the same without ya 😔but I understand- I’ve worked 1/2 a day in the last moth due to f#*n rain. Things are gettin tight here to I telya.
Keeping a roof over your head and food on the table is more important mate. We'll be there again next year....
There is a couple of bags of hand me down snow gear that has been passed around over the last couple of years as the tribe grows up. Has anyone got extra snow gear that woyld suit Mattys kids.
Matty
Kids Age, Sex and size and we might be able to sort out a couple of things between us. Shoe size too please.
We might have some left over that Aiden has grown out of, he's nearly outgrown his sister, who is 2 and a half years older. We will bring what we have and if something works, it works.

Ooi, is lamb the meat of choice or is there something else preferred? Can do anything really, even some roast chooks on another day?

Legend Nicco [emoji106][emoji106]
What about a mixed spit stick, happy to haul a trailer up with a long stick hire pit so you can regulate heat for different meat ends?

@mudski Mate, are you good for Beautiful Frenchy bread rolls again Brother? Anyone else got any Secret Family Recipe Salads or the like?

Up to you mate, I don't think a full carcass is for everyone, I can fit about 7 chooks on mine, so could easily do some beef say one end and chook at the other. I've done it before, I did chicken, beef pork and roast veggies all at once, once upon a timeAttachment 85552

Yeah was from the bakery, I'll head up Friday too, probably head up through Matlock maybe with trailer and do a wood run on the way. . .
Sent from my SM-G781B using Tapatalk
I'm down for that, I'll be bringing a trailer to fit the spit so will be happy to take that for a wood run too if needed.
