Looks a little slippery gents!! Good to see those winches being used also instead of simply weighing down the front of the vehicles. How chomped up was it - as bad as the vid's supplied by Big daddy or somewhere near the Adventure Club 4x4 vids put up by someone else?
Yeah ellis isnt really forgiving with the slightest of rain as its very slippery. Looks like you boys had fun!
What a great day, hard track. Very slippery and we all winched a hell of a lot!!!
I only have one vid of myself breaking a cv most likely but wow what a cracker of a day gents!!

Time to air down and get into it and for Toyota drivers put in the front drive shaft lol. .

Track was much more chopped up since last time we were up there the bottom section is usually a brezze but a few obstacles a bit lower now.

Hey fellas out of curiosity did you guys see any of the boys in blue there yesterday? Had a mate tell me that his mate was at ellis yesterdayband cops were handing defects out like candy.
I wonder if my mate is friends with someone here in this group or he was with another group?
Quick update on my rig.
The rear diff noise was getting pretty bad so decided to strip it down last night. Fair to say she was goneAttachment 78562

We removed the 4:6 diff gears amd installed a 3:9 set for now.
Will be removing the lockers from.the 4:6 diff gears and installing them i 4:1s so i can utilise the car on the street amd strip better. The 4:6s were good off road but on the street amd strip ri run outta gears quickly on road tyres...
We are now gunna run 4:1s with a crawler gears in transfer for off road so i got the best of both worlds.
The only time i will notice it a little sluggish will be with the 37s heading t amd from bush but i never thrash it with big tyres on.
Hoping to see you guys on the next one

Awesome pics Rosco. I managed to turn my massive ding in to a ripple in my rear 1/4. http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...019/05/218.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...019/05/219.jpg

Yeah they where about. There was a second group behind us on the track from Geelong. They got pulled up at the bottom of the hill out of Ellis and all got hammered. I knew a few of them. They did not fare well. 6 out of 7 went home with a yellow sticker.!!!! The 7th turned Left instead of right! ;)
On public forums its kinda' asking for trouble advertising events like this - I know the coppers regularly monitor special interest groups to plan targeted sweeps. I know, you shouldn't have to keep everything under wraps, but its easy picking for sure and these challenging tracks are sure to attract the attention of our infringement mad protectors looking for vehicles that are built beyond manufacturers specs.
to be fair phil, the other group we shared the track with, drove like absolute dipsticks. they were the target market for the boys in blue. the people in our group were respecatble to the track, didnt drive like idiots, didnt drink and drive, and as best as could be respected that track. i cant say the same for the other crew.
Yeah they were a bit loose too say the least and certainly part of the reason 4wds get a bad name. However the law is the law and you can't argue with that at the end if the day, however a little common sense and decency does go a long way. Just unfortunate we live in such a nanny state / country but we're still pretty lucky, however due to a certain few there's probably good reason for it. .

I agree with you both, its a bloody pain and simply forces people 'underground' or fearful of sharing the passion.
Phil that was discussed about these types of trips put up on social media and lets just say it has been noted.
Dodged a huge bullet is all we can say.
The joys of owning a modified or capable 4wd.
Though mines engineered they would of got me for 37s no mudlfaps and whatever else they decided to find. Which is why i drive around on stockies in melbourne on its daily commute.
If any of you got done ihope its not too painful amd i lool forward to catching you all on the next one
Being Navi in the lead truck up top within our front crew did spend all of the late morning outside running the winch after an unfortunate CV pop. All I could hear outside way down below for hours was what my nuffy mechanical experience initially thought was a .410 shotty going off every 5-10 minutes. Was educated around lunchtime that serious boost dumping was the source. Many neighbouring farms/houses below Ellis track may or may not have landline phoned up the Blue Husqvarna’s? Was a beautiful sunny Saturday so well could have been planned in advance too and or too much online chatter with specifics also?
