With 8 kids, it has to be the wagon, lol.....
Drive a White GU Wagon cause it is easier to spot from the air against the red dust. :)
Looks like the LWB is popular.
I have a SWB. This is the most popular type of patrol in my area . LWB is too long in the mountain and forested areas. Hard to maneuver.
Here's my old banger, a 98 2.8. GU, 250.000 clicks and still going great.

We have the 1995 GQ2 ST LWB TB42 Auto dual fuel. Seven seats to fit the kids and all their gear in, power windows, velour seats etc for a little bit of luxury, auto for long, lazy cruising. Bought for a weekday taxi for the kids, and in the process of becoming a weekend play toy as well as it was designed for (this things been pampered all its life and never left the road, but thats easily fixed)!
'94 GQ Wagon 4.2 Turbo Diesel, lift, locker!! etc, just bought it but love it already, going to try it out in the forests this weekend!!
safari swb :P
I have the following in my stable.
Landcruiser FJ73
Mitsubishu Outlander
Hyundi Excel
Suburu Forester
Gu Ute - recent addition
I have to sell a couple of these...LOL.
I had a Gq SWB TD42
After the first child i got a Gq LWB TB42, for that little bit more room.
My current drive is a 1990 GQ Cab Chassis currently receiving a trans transplant, also my son receintly bought an 83 MQ with an 86 3.3td and 5 speed fitted. It had been rolled onto it's side out in the desert and has a bit of body damage and a few other things to repair. It will be used as a workhourse by my son so he dosen't have to pinch mine just to get firewood (It also keeps his SS off the dirt roads when working on farms) and I have the use of it while mine is out of action
Keith.
C'mon all you ute owners.
Fill in the poll. I know there's more of you out there!!!
Pretty please. lol
Agree with just about everything you say above Rosco but since I took posession of a D40 Navara for work I've learnt two things that I just can't do without any more:
Electric windows - it's now sooo difficult to get good airflow through the vehicle when I want it.
Electric mirrors - It's an absolute PITA having to get out of the car, walk around to the passenger side, adjust the mirror to where you think it needs to go, walk back to the driver's side and get in, check the mirror - DAMN it's still not right, get back out of the car, walk around.................................
PS, the Navara mirror don't have the "home" position if they get knocked and gives me the absolute you-know-whats getting them back in the right possie.
So electric windows and electric mirrors are now on my "essential" list. Call me soft but I don't care!
All the above is a quote, i just stuffed the post up lol, anyway;
My 1991 GQ TB42 wagon has electric windows and electric mirrors as factory standard. My mates Mav ( similar year) has electric windows.
My 1983 SD33 MQ SWB has niether lol
Freshly purchased '89 GQ TB42 dual fuel
1977 Escort 2 Door
The Ford badged GQ is hunkering on the front lawn waiting for the imminent new clutch - keen to take her out for a little podder in 2nd and see if I can scare fellow users of the road into letting me cruise through without having to come to a stop :) :049: But really, itll prolly just have to wait
The Escort has been my toy for over 8 years, garaged whilst I was overseas. After a number of engines and general fucking around with it, it hasn't stopped once in over 4 years in it's current configuration. very happy with it. 5 spd sierra box is in it and im keen on doing a big brake conversion and a injected 2ltr. but thats another story for another board... sorry!
And for those of you who are wondering, no I didn't buy the Maverick cos it has a Ford badge - it was just the right machine at the right time!
Cheers
I haven't checked this poll in months...Looks like the wagon's have absolutely smashed the poll.
Good to see everyone adding to it!
I have a GU coily ute, and my GQ xtra cab.
Very happy with both!
Steve.
