Unfortunately Nissan got around the dash issue by releasing a Service Bulletin NOT a Recall. It was expected that if the car went in for service and an owner asked there was a Service Bulletin allowing for it to be replaced.

From memory labour to do the dash was around $600
@ Kallen can you change the thread topic to "Westys Whitey", got abit of Pazzaz about it lol
Yikes. When I talked to them about it, the dash was $590 - labour was around $500-600, but since they were pulling it out anyway if I paid the parts they willl happily slot it in.... Wonder where they got 2500 though... Or the service bloke I spoke to was talking s#it.
Regardless I'll hit them up for it.
Looking good Kallen... many years of enjoyment.
So when are you changing your forum name?
bigguwesty has a nice ring to it.
How many of your siblings were actually conceived in the mighty GQ Patrol.
Might be worth keeping and re fresh the whole vehicle slowly for one of your sons
to drive pops 4x4 lol
As said many times already.
Great pick up. You really need to be ready to jump on the good ones.
Welcome to the upper class of patrols. From someone who has a GU from the same year that they made GQs. Lol
Nice work. The silver was nicer, tho.
Did you go check it did you?
In the end what turned me off was he only took it in every 20 thou to a mechanic mate, did the rest himself..
And through the car year were pretty well covered for 3 years.
Apart from being white, I think this one has a better list of features..
are you going to make a SS snorkle down the track ?
Good,, Im not a fan of the big cut-out on
the guard they do instead of just a hole.
I may be able to assist if you can get to Adelaide
in the future,
Need to update your Avatar too buddy
Very nice find, bigwesty! Looks clean and fitted with goodies!
I think your Patrol is set up to tow heavy trailers, nothing wrong with that at all
as its braced to handle it, Next time I go past State wide Ill pop in and ask about the GMV update
can you bounce the front and rear by hand up and down or is it rigid??
When I first brought mine I thougth the ride was harsh especially coming from a Troopy.
I decided to check the tyre pressures and they were 65 psi all around, after ringing the owner and asking why
she said its written on the sidewall of the tyre, which it is lol
No cant tow any more. Still the 3.2t.
But can carry 3.45 on board..
If the patrol is maxed I can legally only tow 2.5t..
But I will maybe never get near that gmv.. now with the van anyway..
And suspension is about the same as the gq..
We have the same/similar setup on our SES 4X's... GVM upgrade and 2 inch lift.
If you don't have extra GVM you run out of capacity well before you load up the bodies, radios, batteries, steel winch bar and winch, long range tanks, roof racks and the back full of gear plus rear bars and towball loads... and that is towing 2 ton trailers.
No extra GVM means we either leave the people or the gear behind
GCM will most likely be the same as original.
None of the mobs I am aware of do GCM upgrades (but that is only a couple)
GCM upgrades are available but if they are like GVM upgrades in some states they must be done at time of Rego
Lot more engineering involved in changing GCM
Disclaimer, Some states do not apply GCM to light commercials only LR, MR, HR etc sooooo it depends what data is supplied by the manuf but you still can't exceed the GVM upgrade specs.
Some companies specify that GVM upgrade is against GCM some do not.
Laminate that spare GU front diff you have and slot that under the front.
would be near on unbreakable lol
Should have added irrespective of the vehicle IF the GCM is stated by the manuf on the vehicle plating then that is applicable
If it is not then the GCM is 'as determined by the registering authority' IE the dudes on the side of the road or at the inspection station.
It's a huge bag of regs and bulletins etc but easiest way is stay under the original GCM (if plated) or 'original GVM + towing capacity = GCM even with upgrade' and you are def OK.
Trying the 'updated GVM + original towing capacity is now the new GCM' may or may not work if things go pear shaped
Nice pick up. I'm sure you'll love the GU.
So suspension is a lovell kit..
Raised fronts and raised heavy duty rears..
Straight off thir site..
So that's probably why it rides ok..
Nice truck mate. You have done well.
