Mat check your pm's mate
Still the bottom end is still unknown and we're just assuming at this point and untill we can get it to rotate I'm assuming the worst untill we strip it down to check the condition of the crank which imo is the most imoortant part. 2k was the same rough cost I told jonathan last night and it will only go up.
Should add to the pros of the 2nd hand motor that you could get a genuine motor that might go for years and years trouble free aswell, its a gamble that's worth considering
if you go down the 2nd hand motor road what motor would be preferred silver or black top.
I can check my sources for prices if you want?
Sorry for late reply but whatever way BA decides to go I'm in:

I am not sure if this helps but a wrecker in Brooklyn ( not sure if it's close) has a fair few td42 Utes he's wrecking if not put me in for $100. Let me know an account via pm and I'll send it on its way
I would appreciate any input as matty said.. if you have a contact that may help please l9ok into it.. as I said before I am struggling with trying to do everything including looking after a sick boy and taking him to work with me..
I do truly appreciate everyones help and will make up for it... just right now I am on my knees.
get off your knees BA no need for that. You're bigger than that
Jonathon
I am sorry that this has happened however I would advise you to involve your Wife in any decision that you make.
Your family must come first and you need her support in what you do.
Bob
Yeah tell us all to 'piss off' on the personal stuff. Just ignore what you have to. But I do think it is natural to be worried about the whole situation and I think Bob and Boots and maybe others have highlighted that relationships are probably more important than engines.
Sorry if stepping over the line.
I do not need this right now... I have been with mags for 20 years and I know how best to deal with that situation. .
If I were to ring her now all miserable with the news that the engine has blown up and no idea of what my next move might be and no idea of costs and so on it would ruin her holiday..
As soon as I am armed with as much information and costs as possible I will tell her and move on from there but right now is not the moment.
My stress is high enough with out getting marital advice as well. ..
Cheers.
So John did you ask your contacts?
Ab never rang me back....
I am going top ring Readies now.
I'm going down there later this arvo, black top or silver top he has both as far as I know.
BA not sure of the situation but im good for $100 if its needed and to help out with labour even if its just cleaning parts for you
These are not total figures and complete info but here is what I have so far..
Newby rang with a price on high end reco but the finer details are not worked out as far as exchange or so on for $4400
Sean can get a short engine from Readies with warranty (30days) now he got a price of $2000 but was going to ring him back to put the screws in.
AB was on the phone to Paul at Patrolapart and Paul strongly suggested rebuilding the bottom end and if pistons are fine do not touch them.. Now some vague prices for machining start at $1000 for new bearings and the machine work but this depends on how much damage is done and could be as high as $2000?
The head is fine and would just need a very light shave.
Any thoughts kids?
Have the oil galleries in your block been completely cleaned out? It won't matter what you get done, if there is a possibility of crud causing more problems.
So John other than a stuffed short engine for $500 did you get anything out of your contacts?
You know I'm in for any help I can mate. I might be able to swing some financial help your way but I'm more than happy to come help George work on it while you just bugger off for a while and relax. My offer stands for Sars to come keep Alexander company for a few hours so you can just chill.
I can even offer up my place to do the work. I have all the tools needed here and not short on space either lol. But it's your decision bud we are all here behind you.
You deserve all this support mate. You are nothing but a total gentlemen (well atleast until we get to know you properly) so now is the time we give back to you.
Call me anytime for any reason specially over the next 2 nights when I'm away haha
It looks like you have a lot of support here BA in getting your troubles sorted.
This kind of gesture makes me glad I started this forum in the first place so my suggestion is to lap it up and take it with open arms to get your rig sorted.
We all know that you'll be there to help another friend on here as already proven mate so don't be shy.
But as mentioned on the phone, lets work out the right approach first.
Paul's suggestion does have a lot of Merritt if other avenues don't work out and if the engine checks out.
Thanks again guys... I still have no idea what I am doing, I just got back from Toorak and little huggy fell asleep on the way back and I wish someone could have carried me to bed... I am so tired.
There is only one week till xmas with no plan in place as yet.
I did not touch the engine today and am a little flat and over it for the moment..( please dont tell me to put the thing away for a couple of months) I just cleaned the house and laundry and crap and cooked a proper dinner and try and get some energy back.
I threatend to end the life of this little yuppie prick in Toorak today and was so close to dragging him into the middle of the road... not because of what he did to me but how he reacted to being a shit.... deep breaths.
Maybe tomorrow will be a better day.
I wonder if the oil to turbo pressure issue is related to your issue? I really don't know but I really wish that I could help strip your engine to get to the bottom of it.
If it helps, after Xmas I'd like to offer some support, even if it's only a minor donation.
As I mentioned I am more than happy to chip in once a decision is made. IMO a quality reputable exchange motor would be good option fairly quick too. I would he happy with pauls (patrolapart) advise he does no his stuff and is a good resource. Second hand motor is a gamble, mines been good but is a bit of an unknown.
Anyways take your time to make a decision when you feel happy about it. Bloody good to see such support, it'll be going beter than ever soon.
If time and money permit and all your bolt on parts are OK a reco short motor would be a good option, but as said you need to do what you think is best.
My earlier offer of assisting still stands whenever you decide to do something.
I cannot get the bloody Harmonis balancer off... driving me mad and I am now sick !!!!!!!!!!! fwark.
It is really looking like it might be timing gears that is the issue but I have been wrong time and time again so not holding my breath.
Hi folks,
