Next year getting back to do things I've put off for a while, good thing my wet suit still fits.
So a bit of Diving is on the cards, and maybe some hunting up in NSW.

Flicking through the channels on TV as you do when there was "BLokes world in a gun shop in the states.
The idiot picked up a compound bow and dry fired it ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,OUCH OUCH BIG TIME did I say OUCH'
the dudes inside fore arm was one huge blood blister, OUCH big time
Went out today to a bush archery park
Fired off 200 odd arrows in 2 1/2 hrs by the end I was buggered

About 40 meters away

First shot hit him in the nose needless to say he would have been a very pissed off if it was real the others were somewhere close to the mark it was shooting down across a steep little gully. You'd never have a crack at a buff from that distance, 10-20m max

This guy woulda been very dead at 20m
Those laws were only for cross bows, and fair enough too.
@ Growler can I go hunting in Aus for $200??????
Meaning a $200 bow and a handful of arrows
you would get an average entry level recurve for around that price TD. I wouldn't trust a compound bow for that price. A mate ha d a cheeeeeeeep old browning compound bow that snapped and smashed him in the face, the arrow landed between his feet. Was farkn funny but bloody dangerous. Don't by a cheap chinese compound, only asking for trouble
HHHHhhhhmmmmm only want small to medium game,
might have to knock this idea on the head, bummer
This isn't bad for an entry level recurve well placed shots will take bunnies easily and no reason foxes wouldn't drop with a critical shot http://shop.archerymart.com.au/colle...guar-take-down
I have a reaaalllly on old composite plastic type recurve, I think I can fart an arrow better than this bow but young bloke uses it occassionally so I won't offload it.
I prefer compound personally but that not a bad looking bow there Growler. Wouldn't mind trying my hand at bow hunting
We had them at high school I rekon.
Some blokes swear by and only shoot traditional, others like myself are into compound, personal preference I spose
Ive got a cool DVD called backpacking for hogs by tusker productions. Its really amazing the pigs these blokes take down with their recurves no sights nadda
I use both recurve and compound, bare bow on recurve and sights on compound, my old man taught me how to shoot bare bow on compound which is pretty easy with a little practice and plus if sights are out or get buggered in the field you can go back to bare bow.........
im looking at getting an Oneida Bow....had one a couple year's ago kept breaking the string but technology has caught up with the bow and are pretty good to shoot now.....well that's what I have heard
when i was a teen i used to shoot bare bow compound as i thought sights just seemed weird on a bow but after going out with a mate from work who has the peep sight and the release aids that is amazing but felt alot more like firing a rifle or crossbow as you are in a way taking the human factor out of it and you end up relying on these aids to get your shot.
just my opinion
I do I hunt with them here in stanthorpe
Hey TD heres a link to Cabelas (USA) some good priced bows here mate http://www.cabelas.com/browse.cmd?ca...3Bcat477185580
Postage will prob be the killer.
I bought mine from the US and it wAS quite reasonable
Edit: Considering the purchase price was nearly 50% cheaper than anywhere in Australia postage was no issue :)
$69US for shipping
This guy is taking it verry well lmao http://youtu.be/qn3MyxojG6M
Lucky they were only field points or hed be bleeding out
I just pulled the string off my bow and am giving it a service and going to get a peep sight and make a stabiliser and buy a release aid and make a target and get back into it can't wait! My bows a good 20 yrs old so needs a good service and adjusting to get it right again.
I've not used this site personally but looks like it might getting out and about a bit easier you can search for properties by state also.

Pretty hard to shoot a bear ?
I reckon you'd be slipping on your shite too much to take aim
Is that at a club? I'm gonna do the dodgy I think and find some secluded areas no one will see to practice either polystyrene targets or carpet stacked and compressed .. Depends how far I need to carry it lol . Both I can get for free
Nah not a club. It's a property 44acres with 3 different courses costs $10 day with your own gear
Damn $10 is good, I just don't want to put up with the crap with clubs wanting you to go to club shoots and some are only open certain hrs or you can shoot at any time with prior arrangement (when it suits a supervisor)
Very informal this joint. Turn up once sign the paper work agree to the rules, show the chic you can shoot then rock up whenever you want 7 days a week sign the book put your money in the slot and happy days :)
If I had the space/land I'd be doing that also.
I've played with compound and recurve plus crossbows. Obviously the crossbow was the easiest, all bows take practice before you can guarantee a humane hit.
Best bet if you get into it is to purchase of the USA eBay a second hand high quality unit. Postage is nothing compared with what you will save.
No issue brining them in; hardest thing is finding land/farmer that will let you hunt :-(
Check out the link I posted earlier, looks like it might save a lot of time rather then asking around
