A bit more on what Cuppa said, it that any bird that eats seeds needs water, so if your stuck in the desert and see seed eating birds
the parrot family is a good example, chances are water is nearby.

Fence around Beverley Uranium Mine near Arkaroola in SA, Taken in 2007.
Its a tall cyclone fence with triple strand barbed wire but if you look in the distance it changes to an old farmers style fence.
entry 2: a fence we went past on our way to camp last weekend

Nice one Mega........ good to see someone is out & about with their camera & thinking of fences!
Everyone else you still have a couple of weekends to take the opportunity to get a pic or two of a fence or fences somewhere. Grab your camera, phone, or whatever, stick it it in your glovebox & see what you can capture whilst out having a bit of fun.

Here's my effort,
Taken a while back near home.
It is of an old shearing shed near Wullwye on the Monaro, luckily it just happens to have a fence in the shot.

Thought I would add another shot,
This was taken early morning at a property called Nungatta in the heart of the SE forest between Bombala and Eden(south of the Imlay Road).

Third entry. Part of an old fence at a historical site of Paradise School 1892 to 1904. Paradise Dam (Qld) is in the back ground.
Ok, first shot.
Location, Batterbys on the Glenelg river.

OK folks, you have just 5 more days to get your fence photos in.
Entries will close when I go to bed on Sunday night (27th October) following which I will invite everyone who wants to, to cast their votes for this month's worthy entries.

1st Entry

Attachment 35801
2nd Entry
Pic of my daughter ( a lot younger then! ) watching the cows in the paddock at Little Hartley
Attachment 35804
3rd Entry
A day trip to Sofala with a good mate of mine who unfortunately sold his GQ patrol :(
I think he bought the car in the pic *L*
Attachment 35805
The property at Little Hartley looks like a nice place.
That it is Cuppa, only just found out they actually don't own it anymore, they sold the house and the 100 acres they lived on a few years ago but the new owners only use the land for cattle and the new owners have allowed them 2 stay there indefinitely, I haven't been out there for a long while but when the fires die down I will have 2 take a trip out there
If you look real close, you will see the fence .... this is my backyard
A quick reminder to anyone going out for a drive today (or indeed anyone with nothing better to do than sit & look through your old photos this arvo)- take your camera/phone - entries for this months competition close at 7pm this evening. Any posted after that time will be fine, but will not be counted in the final tally.
The October comp is now closed to further entries. Please have a look through those already posted & cast your votes for your favourite by clicking on the 'Thanks' button of the post. Votes will be tallied & the winner announced on Thursday 31st.
Thanks all.

Better get my ass in gear earlier next month.................:icon_bonk:
Top shot & nothing less than I'd expect from you Fracster......... But yep 'fraid you missed out, even though I went over 5 hours past my deadline before shutting off entries. Will expect to see an earlier entry next month. :)
And Clunk ........ I should have specified Australian Eastern Standard time 'cos there was bound to be someone from one of those states which live in the past who would pipe up. ;). You still had an extra 3+ hours past the deadline to post though! ;)
Keep the votes coming in folks.
Cuppa
Looks like cuppa has 1st and 2nd covered atm..
How long is voting open for cuppa??
Nae problem dude, see you next month.
Good to see so many good shots from so many different people, seems the monthly comp is working well.
Yea caught that in the other thread. Cheers
The result of a wet winter, and high winds.
Voting is now closed for the October comp.
Thank you to everyone who posted an entry & everyone who participated by voting.
I hope you all enjoyed seeing the many great photos of fences.
I have now tallied up the votes and can announce this months winners.
In first place is ...... with 24 votes for ‘Birdfence’ is .....me (how embarrassment)
In second place ...... with 18 votes for ‘Gulf country fencing contractor’ is ...... GUtsy Ute
In third place with ....with 17 votes for Lake Ballard salt lake fence is ........ me again.
Thank you to everyone who voted for ‘Birdfence’. It was a shot which took many attempts to capture as the Zebra Finches would fly off as I got close, but I eventually got them by taking up position & sitting still in full 40 degree sun for what seemed ages until they all returned.
Congratulations to GUtsy Ute for his 2nd place with his great nostalgic shot of outback life.
Truth be told all entries were winners, but special mention too for Megatexture’s ‘Dingo Fence’, & Fracsters late jumping deer shot. Both were well appreciated. Well done everyone.
I will now consult with this months winner & solicit a new topic for our November comp. ;)
No need to be embarrassed, was a top shot.
Congrats
This competition is rigged...lol
Nah it was a good photo cuppa, got my vote!!!
Well done Cuppa
