DIAL-A-TAP
Yeah I thought I had a week bladder..... Ab and Kris have the bladders of 2 year olds!!!!!!!!
I'll post the shots here aswell just incase the other thread dies...
Here are some pics I have of my great day. Not many as my dad was doing the shooting but here you go.
The zook will be up for sale if you know anyone who might be interested. This thing has a 2inch lift, twin ARB air lockers, ARB winch and bar and UHF. Goes anywhere this thing, but its way too light. If it were only me and him when my tyre blew out and had to be I snatched, I would have done it.
Big thanks again to everyone that helped me out that day, Darren, AB, and the dude with the eye piercing, erm, winnie?, also to the others who all stepped in. Sorry I am crap with names... It was my first time out in nearly fifteen years and when the time came, all the experienced showed that day from the guys who helped. I was totally blown away how the blown out tyre was fix and put back on. I would have just put my spare on and kept going. My dad who came along is 72, had never been 4wd'ing nearly shat himself at the Devils Staircase ( I think it was called) just as well it was dry as I would have too. I know it was easy going for everyone else but nothing pays better than experience.
My hat really goes off to AB for holding such a wonderful event, and running this great forum. I really can't wait now for the next meet up.
Now after this weekend I have just added a few more things to my wish list. 35's to be one of them so I don't get my diff's hung up on a bloody rut. I did feel quite embarrassed it happened. But on the final attempt to get out of the rut I was actually getting out with full noise and thats when my tyre slammed the wall and went BANG!
Looks like everyone had a great time, thanks for sharing with the ones who could not attend, I made this thread Sticky so it will not get lost and everyone can enjoy it.
Mudski, what happened to you is why we all go out together on trips mate and it may not seem OK to you, but we all enjoy helping each other out as it is just another part of 4WDing..........damn I wish that I still lived over East.
There's plenty of room back over here for ya!
Funny thing is with this "repaired on track" blow out. My truck doesn't have the 80k wobbles now! Must be the right amount of mud in the tyre getting the balance right. :)
Yeah thats what I was trying to say. The mud in the tyre has properly balanced it. But I still should get it cleaned out though.
Did you get a video of the repair ??? I would love to know how its done!!
I dont think so mate but it is pretty easy to do. It looked pretty messy when it was in the rut but once the wheel was off then i saw the inside bead was in tact so it was a no brainer, reseat it and we are on our way. Just used a stick off the ground to clean the rim bead and the tyre bead then go the pump out.
I placed the wheel across a rut with the good bead facing down into the ground and then stood on the wheel. This forced the rim to push down and with the lower bead in place the tyre was forced up into the rim edge and we just pumped air into it until it held then got off and let the pump do the work. I poured some water into the bead when it wad holding air to make sure it was not leaking but simple stuff mate. Do be shy. ;)
Hahaha i thought u used the mud to make a seal between the bead and the rim lol at work we have this donut thing made of solid rubber to take up the gap on cheep wheels that are moulded with the beads close to each other. But before we had that tool we used to do that trick aswell as " persuade " the rim to meet the tyre on 1 side. I might have to get 1 of those donuts and some tyre lube to keep as part as my recovery gear hey..
I must be honest Darren and please forgive me but I thought there seemed to be a lot of mucking about for not much????
But then I had a good think about it and thought yes I was wrong and you were right as it was a front the risk of damage was much greater to the rim and tyre.
I did the rear in exactly the same spot and just drove straight out but the affect to the wheel was not the same.
The one thing about recoveries is to never dismiss someones thoughts on the matter as this proved my ideas were wrong and if it was my car and I was one of those bozzo's that would not take advice it could have done much damage.
I picked up a couple of great tips from you that day from just standing back and watching.
My mates I 4wd with are all open to others suggestions which makes going bush with them a pleasure as there are no hereo's.
Cheers mate.
Is it the 16th again.
Is it. Is it. Is it.
I blew my air cleaner out yesty. Was a brand newy I put in on Thursday. I couldn't believe the amount of dust that came out. Gave the MAF a spray too...

Supercheap sell this stuff...
Got plenty of pics but they are massive files (6mb each). Might have to scale them back for uploading.
I'll try and upload tonight.
Download a free program called Image resizer for windows. Once loaded on it will apear when you right click on the picture you want to resize. then it will ask you what size you want to resize the pic too. Then it just makes a resized copy in the same folder your pics will be in. Takes a whole 5 seconds to resize a picture. Great little program to use.
Yeah it's a great program Mudski, use it at work every day. :D
Come on Timbo!!
I just sent 10 sms's to Rossco screaming for his vids and pics...lol

One more track one more track one more track!!!!!!!!!!
Next time I think we're gonna have to have a dedicated photographer who passengers with the lead car, who pulls over at every cool part of a track and lets them take photos of everyone, then everybody stops and waits for the lead car to get back in front.
Shotgun not!!
Roofy I think she seemed to be having too much fun driving to wanna worry about taking photos too!
maybe if everyone rotates on every trip
I am off to bed now... Tim I expect photo's when I get up in the morning...... if not you and me are going to dance!!!!!!! he he!!!
:bigthumbup:Ok everyone here are the pics I got from the weekend.:drunk:
I think what might be a good idea is each lead car goes up stops and films/ takes pics then falls back into the back of the pack, obviously experience and car capabilities has to be taken into account.
