Not a bad few days out!
Well done Alitis, great catch, would have been fun. Snapper are a great fighting fish especially in shallow water.
Never argue with an idiot, cos he'll bring you down to his level, then beat you with experience. Y2K
Cheers Mego, i generally fish in around 40ft (15m or there abouts) of water thers not much that can compare with the shimano 5500 baitrunner screaming with an over stimulated snapper on the end of it apart from when you get them within a meter or two away from the boat and they start to kick again, that gets the heart rate up again hahaha. Heres a pic i dug up from a few years ago when i was in Eden NSW of a couple of 3.5kg salmon i got off the surf at Green cape also known as Disaster bay in the Ben Boyd national park http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...2012/11/88.jpg This is the beach i got those salmon from http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...2012/11/89.jpgAttachment 22585
So what's everyone's thoughts on kayaks?? We have a nice river and estuary down here so I've always thought about getting one.. For $600-$800 you can get a nice rig

For stealth it's the only way to go. A mate of mine uses his in Port Phillip Bay with rod holders, live bait tank, kill tank, GPS sounder, Minn Kota, the bloody works and he swears by it. Won't go fishing any other way now. We call him on our tinnies but also say he'll meet us there.

id like to see a spinner for cod in action
Years ago at Yarrawonga caravan park ,maybe 30 yrs ago mate and I were fishing at the weir wall. he got a massive bite that took off.
set the hook then line went funny but still felt like it was there, typical yellow belly strike, WOW some dudes wallet with $200
in it no fish, cross my heart. Pissed as crickets that night, beer was like what $12 a slab. Ah they were the days the dollar was strong like the economy,
times were easier
Try some poppers at night if you want some cod action
should of sent him a negitive or a reel of photos with the cut open yalla with the wallet inside it lol
Nah just the wallet, sorry caught heaps of Cod with golf balls in them. silly buggers think they are Cocky eggs
well thats an idea for a lure hehe
hahaha a few years back i was fishing under the bolte bridge and speaking to a bloke who looked familier so i asked him and it was the guy from the other week who caught on to a dead body, he was on the news
yeah he must of been dying for a fish
When i was a kid i remember catching a few turtles while we were fish for bream out Robe SA way, and catching 3 or 4 sand crabs at a time every cast off Lake Bunga surf beach near Lakes entrance VIC. Where did all those fish go??
yeah alitis same here i remember the size of carp and yellowbelly we used to pull out of waranga basin
Lake Bunga brings back memories. good times, good times indeed
I've only fished fresh water a couple of times but mainly ever fished coastal my whole life from mallacoota to robe and only in the last couple of years we have had to buy a 4wd to get to the spots that are not easily accessed or over fished.
Golf anyone!!!!!!

I hear ya Mego. I haven't wet a line since April and don't look to be getting near the water again until late next year.
Surely there must some water near Bathurst, you are retired so you must have some spare time.. Then again you must saving yourself for fishing frenzy in the noosa river.

Never really done much fresh water stuff, my passion, and gear, is all for the salt.
Retired, but with the move happening all my time is spent getting the house sorted, packed, painted etc.
A frenzy it shall be, especially with my cousin continually taunting me with pics of all the fish he's catching!
When I do happen to catch a whole fish, like this one, http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/h...icus/kingy.jpg
we turn it into this :)
