Looks like the chain is around the towball to me...I do hope I'm wrong on this one.

Well atleast they have their hard hats and safety vests on just incase the chain lets go or the towball snaps off. I'd love to see how a hard hat stands up against a flying towball.

I made a comment on the YT ad but I don't think it will get approved to be posted. No obscenities written too by me. Plus I flagged the add as inappropriate. Reason? Harmful Dangerous Acts > Suicide or Self Injury. Should be Sucide AND self Injury.
better email the video links to holden haha and i see no comments have been aproved as of yet .
I have contacted Today/Tonight, now wait and see if they are interested. Might need a few people to do a safe recovery on film.

Just saw this ad again on channel 7

Holden have emailed me today and they had this to say............
Dear Jonathan,
We refer to your recent email regarding the Colorado advertising campaign.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention.
Holden values customer comments and feedback and appreciates the time you have taken to write to us. While we devote considerable resources prior to the release of any advertisement or marketing campaign, we understand that occasionally there will be areas that are open to constructive comments.
In response to feedback, the advertisement in question was modified immediately by Holden prior to national syndication, however, some regional and pay-tv stations may not have received these changes in time. As a result the original version of the as may have screened in some instances over the weekend. We are currently working with media outlets to ensure all original versions of the advertisement are removed and replaced with the rectified advert.
We are currently working with the national 4WD motoring body (4WD Australia) with the intention of ensuring that we depict a safe recovery of a stranded vehicle in any further advertisement.
Please be assured that Holden places a great deal of emphasis on the views and opinions held by our customers. We are proud of our company's strong reputation within the Australian community and safety remains our highest priority in all that we do.
Please understand that our intentions are not meant to offend or make light of any safety issue and we wish to offer our sincere apologies.
Regards,
Kimberley Davies

That is a standard template they have been using, there is a large thread on it over at 4x4 earth, the add still hasn't been ammended
Come on does anyone honestly believe a tow ball would break before the holden.
This line made me laugh.
Holden values customer comments and feedback.
If that was the case they would stop selling the crud .
lol nah you can keep them as well nissan lover here.
Unless it is a ford maverick .
The 4WD association of Australia has in writing confirmation from Holden that as have been modified and should be aired by all stations soon! The association is also taking up the ad with ultra tune.
Tim
the links that were posted on page one dont work anymore saying the vid has been removed by the user found this one and it has no tow ball anymore ! haha http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3dhb57vur0
Well done.....Still hooks it up to a crappy SHS section of the other truck but a win in my books...lol
It is a great result they changed it over going threw the water and backing up to the truck
well done
My son in law mentioned this, he came on a trip with us and we had a quick safety drill about snatching. He must have been listening!!!

Like the new and improved version. Especially where it says "rated shackle and chain used for safe recovery"
At the 29 second mark we get the message about safe recovery, and a "dubbed" in shackle. As for the recovery being safe................

I just saw the ad tonight. It is still the original here (channel GO! Tasmania)
Haha, still snatching with a chain.. but a mild improvement.
Must be embarrassing it has been removed.
I was very happy to see the change in the add, it is a total win for commensense & safety, a chain doesnt have the stored energy of a rated snatch strap, it is more likely to sheer the towball in this instance & from what I have seen previously the chain will drop to the ground due to weight alone & recoil is very minimal, it is the theory that is the issue, by watching this from a reputable company (chokes) every know nothing out there will do the same, I still think the add is flawed but it is better
Awesome, the power of the Forum.
At the start, there is a towball, then it's gone lol. good bit of "photo shop"
Cheers, the ferret.
Just noticed the new ad! Nice bright green shackle looking thing. Good on holden!
Well a Big Congratulations to all members of this forum getting this add taken off the air and reviewed by Holden.
I must also congratulate GMH for their swift action on this and how seriously they took our intervention.
To that end they not only re-shot a section of the add in question but they engaged Simon from 4WDTV to shoot some owners DVDs and i think they will go in an Owners pack when ever a new purchase is made
Check this out.

Still misses a little on the description of why the Winch Blankets and also clear instructions to NOT use rapid aggressive pulling like a Snatch. Maybe a reference to the Difference betwen a Snatch recovery and a Chain recovery should have been noted as a voice over during the moments of no script.
Very Very good start though.
Well Done Holden
We do have a voice, when we stick together, here's a piture of a towball .
this is all that was available, cast iron body, mild steel coach bolts.
amazed we were even born at all. I use this at show and tells
the vid is missing a few vital tips but its a start and if you give some to much info at once it will all go over there head.
