Nothing really. I think its easier. I have never done a CRD EGR block myself. Its just been the common place to do it. But the better spot is at the exhaust manifold, but its harder to do. Higher chance of snapping studs too.

Hi I have just removed my entire EGR system.
Made up two 4mm thick blanking plates, One fits near the turbo on the exhaust. The other on the inlet manifold.
Those holes blocked I was able to get the complete system out and turf it.
The hardest part was getting the water cooling plug/byonet out of the block just above the starter mtr. It was V V tight. Then replace it with a brass plug.
I havnt run the car yet but expecting the computer to have arguments with me about removing it. At the moment the elec. plug just dangles there with nothing to plug into. If needed I might just replace the bit it does plug onto [ removed from the valve etc ]
Removed complete EGR system, fitted blanks where I removed it. Just taken for a drive and no eng. warning light, computer seems fine with it.
