Same here the shovel is important at camp, first to dig the firepit ,then maybe a bit of trench work around any tents,,
Then for shovelling some coals for the evening meal in the camp oven and lets not forget toilet duties lol.
So For me it would be the first thing packed or on my list and the last after filling in the fire pit after a weekend camping.
I leave nothing in or on my car if it can be removed.

I leave my 4b unlocked in the driveway, never had a problem
I'm with Mudski. Anything that could be taken off easily enough by someone else, I'll just remove after a trip.
You're just "advertising" to the scums by leaving stuff on unfortunately these days IMO. Wish it wasn't the case though.

Sometimes I forget to lock the patrol, when you add up all your nicks and knacks in your door pockets
cargo area shelves and glove box it can be quite expensive, Fridge is always in the patrol too.
Its out ATM one of a few times its not been running since about 1993 I reckon.
EDIT you pick which days I forget with Billy on guard lol
I don't get why you'd want to leave your shovel on your truck all the time:confused:
Go to some club meetings and you see all the ppl who dont
have a daily driver rock up , with RTT and everything else that
can bolt on in FULL touring mode. lol
I keep one of the ex army entrenching shovels in the drawers. When going for a 4wd, I include a bigger shovel.
The little shovel has helped a number of times.
I dont leave any goodies, as i park the truck at the rail way station. I have already had one patrol knocked off from the station
