Get yourself a proper works manual for your vehicle and study it carefully.
You're going to cost yourself a lot of money if you keep proceeding down the path you are on.
Here is a very messy video changing a filter. (Drain the filter into a container before removing it by opening the water trap.) Obviously this fella had problems parting the water sensor wiring also and has cut and joined the wires. Thin screwdriver is all that is needed. Very unlikely you could unscrew the sensor or the filter with his method, especially made slippery by spilt fuel. A vice is a very handy shed addition.

Thanks for the help everyone. Will give the screw driver a go this arvo mudski. Unfortunately where i am loving now doesn't allow for much room regarding working on the truck. Hopefully when the new house is built will be set up a little better. All a learning experience.

I take it you have a filter wrench? Just make sure your unscrewing the correct way and your NOT tightening the filter. So as the filter and housing sits on the car, and your looking directly down at the filter, the direction in clockwise. Just incase... Brings back memories of a mate of mine who had an old late 70's F100. The rear nuts were left and right handed threads, he didn't realise and was even using the tines on a forklift to assist the brace in undoing the nuts, then he figured out he was going the wrong way. Lol.
