Time for an update.

Had a few days break as I've been busy but now I've hopped back into it.

As I have a complete diesel loom, I made the decision to swap out my EFI loom for the diesel to save me trouble in the long run. It's a big job but hopefully it's worth it.

I started by removing the dash (annoying to do by yourself)

Tomorrow I should hopefully have the EFI loom out and the diesel in! Then it's just a matter of putting the motor in and wiring it up.

I'd estimate with everything; Engine (with turbo kit + exhaust), clutch, rear main seal, diesel return line (broke somehow), oils, filters and other fluids it would be around $5000.

Thankfully I was able to source the loom, diesel lines, diesel tank etc from the donor car.

Thats a bargain. Looks the goods mate.

The loom I scored the other day is a straight plug and play set up with my existing loom.... happy days.

I spoke to my contact and when I mentioned the trouble you were having and asked if he had another series 2 loom he said "Good luck" and said sell him yours.... to which I told him "Not bloody likely "

A few of the boys will be over my place on Saturday so pop around and have a look at my loom and see what the go is.. maybe bring your one along if you have not started fitting it.

Update!

Slowly progressing.

I've had a few frustrating set backs. The gas tank did not want to come out so brute force was used. I ended up attaching a snatch strap to it and getting another GQ to pull it out. Worked like a charm.

The clutch release fork was another annoying set back. After a few days of agony I realized I had been going about it the wrong way. It's finally in though.

After making the decision to swap the looms, I stripped the interior only to realize it wasn't going to work as the diesel loom I have is a Series 1, whilst mine is a series 2. I would have sacraficed a bit of functionality so I've gone back to the original plan of adapting the petrol loom.
