ARB Roof Rack & Awning deal

Been running a $450 steel rack off ebay for a long time now. I stand on it (105kgs) walk all over the mesh, and its brilliant. Other than the initial weight of it.

I fill it with firewood when out camping and the coating is still very good and resilliant. Food for thought. Pretty sure they do alloy ones aswell.

Yeah, you just have to find the $450 rack. . . . Then hope that it's a good one and not a crap one.

Looks pretty good. So how do they do this for $600 and the ARB for $1000 more? That's a pretty big profit.

You pay a fair bit for the ARB/TJM peace of mind......and the R&D. I'm not sure, but they might also still be made in Aus.
That seller, Aussie Auto Parts is a local business with a factory they source their stuff from in China. All their own designs (sort of) and there are some unique things they have done with tube thickness that the other "cheapie" racks have not. You can actually go to their showroom and see their entire range. It's quite extensive. They're not quite as nicely finished as the ARB racks but as evidenced by a Madigan crossing they're tough enough.

I have an Alloy rack off eBay that has done the Madigan Line fully loaded. Packed smart it handled the load well. I avoided walking down the middle of it though and respected that it was alloy. Mine was $600 and I would buy another.

How much stronger is the ARB job? I know the Black Widow alloy rack is supported on Rhino Racks. How is the ARB?

I have just gone out and had another look at my alloy rack. My rack has 4 feet per side and a total of 12 cross bars including the front and back. What are the ARB numbers please?

I do walk down the midlle of it, you could maybe bounce in the middle without feet loosing touch, but don't think I would jump. Just went and had a look and it has 10 cross bars plus if you count the main outer frame another 2. Then you have the security door mesh over the top of those. At each of the three legs there is 2 cross bars then 2 more spread evenly between the legs. Can try and get a pic tomorrow and throw up.

I bought an Ebay full length alloy roof rack for $400 recently. I haven't fitted it as yet. Walked up the middle without issue.
I will be fitting this rack to my ute that runs a 65mm bar front and back. I'll add some cleats to these then run some angle down the length for the rack to attach to. I bought some 3mm aluminium sheet to 'floor' the rack so when the awnings are fitted I'll have it reasonably weather proof awning to awning.

Roo Systems have a better price on alloy racks http://www.roosystems.com.au/product...loy-ax220.html $559 and also awanings delivered for $179, they also have a package deal http://www.roosystems.com.au/product...quito-net.html I bought my rack and awning from them, I couldnt jusitfy paying big $$$ for a brand name, when roo systems gear is nearly the same, easy to fit and damn good quality
