What scams to watch out for????????

I would ignore the contact as they are usually all scams I sell about 5 to 8 cars a year online and all email contact have been fake. The best give away is the grammar and content read the email out loud to yourself also consider what aussie says they will use an agent to pick it up.... I would call you and ask if my mate could get it. It makes me sick the amount of scum bags out there waste my time and time of others with bullsh$t scams. I looked at a GQ on carsales about 2 years ago but the car and him were apparently on a base in Italy BS!!! good luck with it all anyway mate but wait for a call sometimes an email address is more than enough to cause you hassle.

Dont go near them they are scammers with out a doubt have had the same these clowns are based usually in london or africa and are nigerians dont give them absolutly nothing

As everyone says 100% scam mate.

Anyone that is not coming to see the car and you face to face is a scam.

The old oil rig senario is a scam
Heres how it works (yep nearly got done myself)

Ok you have a car for sale lets say 10K
They offer to pay sight unseen this amount (sometimes more ???)
The say an agent will pick up or its for a gift (whatever)and offer to pay you an extra lets say $800 for frieght
So the grand total is $10,800
They offer to pay this amount into your paypal account (upto this point all seems legit)
BUT
Once the $10,800 is in your paypal account they get paypal to freeze this money (as in DO NOT RELEASE)until they tell paypal to do so
For this to be released you have to pay these scumbags the $800 for the frieght
When you pay the $800 you let these scumbags know
They then tell paypal your all good to recieve the $10,800

BUT
After you pay the $800 (In an offsore account i mite ad)
The scumbags tell paypal they no longer want the deal to go thru and want their $10,800 back ,which paypal duly do

See the scam ???
You just got dupped $800
They dont want the car at all

Yep thats exactly what just happend with one of them,Can you take care of the agent pick up fees $1980. even after sending them all an email saying F-Off and die. as i said ive changed all my passwords on another computer, just incase! Cheers.

It's a well thought out scam isn't it...lol.....I reckon loads of people fall for it though!

Yeah many people do fall for these style of scams
Considering its on every forum known to man , many dont know about these scams
But then again how many people are upto date with the interweb n stuff
Maybe theres really an honest person left in the world

I don't put my email address on any adds. If they want it they will ring, but in saying that I sold a car recently and the number of text messages from scammers was unbeliveable. They all wanted me to email them back and gmail was their email address.
