cheers meatexture your post got me thinking, I thought my battery was just at 10.1 because I had been using the inverter for the laptop. So I swapped the battery's around to start problem shooting and funny that the car would'nt start. So I went straight for the battery isolator and yup sure enough a ground wire wasn't making full contact. So there was no charge getting to the second battery.
Nice and tidy looking truck
Haha yep she is not happy, it's my own fault for what I am running the electrical kind of got out of hand. That battery was new 8 months ago but It's had one hell of a beating it probally did 3 years worth of work in that period. It's always been in my plans to run a decent AGM battery in the rear hence why I have run all the main cables the way I have. For the moment I have replaced the battery with a ac delco 100ah deep cycle. In the next few weeks once I get my research together on batterys, dc to dc battery chargers and being able to add solar panel in I'll get back to building. This is one thing that has been puzzling me for months hence why I haven't addressed it.
I've already ran decent 4 gauge both negative and positive from the secondary battery right thru the cab to the rear fuse box where the orginal jack used to live. The third battery will go on the end of those cables and how I isolate the battery's is what I have to work out.
I would love to hear peoples opinion that have three battery's system and what has worked for them over long period of time, I'm quite happy to blow 400-500$ on a battery but before I do I want to know exactly how to maintain a charge and how to separate it so it does not get damaged from another battery in the system.
I know just enough to hang myself at moment,
Thanks mate, I have not even broke the surface yet I've owned this patrol a year this month. So far there have been countless hours spent just getting the base setup. In the next year I have full custom bar work planned, which I'm not a stranger to. Turbo conversion with intercooler bonnet scoop pyro/boost guage with realistic power figure in mind. After that front locker.
Atm finish the last of the electrical system, to me the electrical system is the most important part of a 4wd.
Bar worked I built for my last patrol, only problem was I build it all around a 2inch body lift. I have no intentions of every running a body lift again so I sold the bar work off.

This time I'm going to go with rear quarter chop, rear bar/rearscrub bar/sliders/frontscrub/bullbar. I'll keep the bull bar I have simply because I'm happy with it, never had an issue with approach angle and it has huge amounts of room for either a top or bottom mounted winch. Police seem to get real funny about comp style bars here as well.
