This is no secret spot, so I shouldn't be offending anyone, but get in your boat and head over to fish the pylons under the bridge in the Mission River. You can use lures or live baits here and should have a lot of fun at the moment. The tides are pretty much all the same at this time of year. Low in the morning, change around 9-10am and you will only need to fish a couple of hours after that. Watch out for the 1pm wind change when the storms can build to blow in from the West at this time of year. Small boats can get caught out and hammered getting back to the boat ramp.
Focus on the eddy's between the pylons, particularly the double pylons, and just fish the change of tide (making tide). For lures, use smaller stuff like the Rapala x-rap suspending lures. If you can throw a cast net and have a live bait tank, grab some mullet from the sand spit a bit further along, also on the Northern bank, but upstream of the bridge a bit.
There are some monster Jacks in amongst it, and heaps of rat barra, (out of season at the moment, so chuck em back) and loads of queenies and some blue nosed salmon on occasion. They are all targeting the small bait fish coming in with the making tide. Awesome to see.
Below are three pics from last week when I was there. The fish between he Pylons is a Jack of about 55cm, that smashed us time and again. The shot of my plotter / sounder is at high resolution so you can zoom in and see exactly where I am talking about.
Edit: Don't go off the coords on the screen shot, the cursor was moved to the west a bit.
