how to fix no introductions

(i am guilty of this)
Im pretty sure there is a way of making it so if you have anything less that 5 posts you cant make a new thread other than in the introduction section.

That seems like a pretty good idea on the surface Mike.....I like it.....

The only thing is it will pad up the intro posts a fair bit ..... maybe possibly two posts, your own Intro, and one Welcome .... then you are on your way

i'm not sure I agree. I'm not sure I see why intros need to be compulsory.

If someone looks up a question on google to fix something, and get sent here, and then "must" post a intro? What if they don't want to be part of the community, but just an answer?
If people want to join in, and become part of the community, sure, they would then introduce themselves. not because they have to, but because they want to.
Only downside I really see by it not being compulsory, would be some peeps won't be able to post 20 odd reply welcomes in 3 minutes to get up post counts?
