Yep, didn't need to touch them. Disconnected the 3 plugs at the front of the manifold and all the looms stay with the manifold.Quote:

I believe the fuel economy is quite significant ie 2ltrs less over 100 Kim's, a and the torque climbs up., I run gas and on efi switching between fuel to gas is just that, no pre purging to empty the carby of fuel.
This motor will eventually be supercharged.
Yes that's what I did. Much easier to do this as opposed to splitting the plenum chamber in situ. Some of the bolts are hard to get to, but it's not impossible. 12mm combination spanner and a socket set with a uni joint and you shouldn't have any dramas.Quote:

My intention is to use the Nissan unit in the donor patrol pulling all mechanicals before sorting electrics.
Haven't upgrade from one to the other but have had both carby and now have an EFI model. Much better to drive/response. A good mod to also do is to fit electric rad fans and although reliability might be debatable, saves a couple more neddies and gives a little bit more response. I fitted 2 fans from a '97 Subaru Leonie ( I think) Got from a wrecker and although fairly old at least they are made in Japan and not Chinese crap. The only ones you seem to be able to buy aftermarket are just that, Chinese crap and I won't touch them. I reckon fans out of a 2000 and on Commodore might be a good option but need to check they will fit depth wise between front of yr donk and radiator. Also will need some sort of shroud to improve their efficiency and a high quality temp sensor/relay to control them. Also need to make sure you use good size cable and good terminals all well/double insulated as obviously gets very hot around there. I had a warning light on my dash with the previous GQ, so I had an indication that the fans should now be on and running as is up to temperature where some cooling is needed. These fans I have had in use/on the car and previous one for over 10 years now and only issue is the bushes have gotten a bit squeaky/noisy a couple of times and just required some lube.
Apart from loom, ECU and fuel pump, you will also need a speed sensor for the ECU and I am suspecting that a carby model doesn't have one and maybe it will run ok without it, but you might have to consider it. Its mounted on gearbox to the speedo if I am not mistaken. Anyway, loike what you are doing good luck with yr upgrade. I am planning to put a 4.8 into a GQ soon. Which should be brilliant.
