Yeah rito then that does seem to defeat the purpose abit... Will look at a catch can for sure tho.

I have a 2011 wagon myself . No mods yet ( except b/bar & towbar ) but when funds allow I'll be doing the catch can first and then hopefully autron egt/boost gauge in a pillar pod to keep an eye on the motor . Not sure about the egr block at this stage , will look into more.
Nah... no hole in mine... just run a scan gauge or similar. One of the best and cheapest gadgets for a CRD
Scan gauge is under $200 and pays for itself in the gauges it replaces (other similar options are cheaper) or fuel it saves
The Ferret makes a top blanking plate at the right price just PM him to sort out getting one.
The scan gauge will let you adjust the VNT (if required) as it monitors boost and will also clear the odd P0401 fault code that the ECU throws
I just ordered the ultra gauge does anyone know if this will do the same thing? And will hopefully fit a catch can soon then will look more into blocking the egr because just not sure if this will cause over boosting and will require a Dawes valve
I have 2011 CRD. I did the mods in the following order
1) Scanguage (fitted it in the car yard)
2) Autron gauges & pillar pod
3) Catch can
I have the blanking plate from Ferret but haven't fitted it yet.
Exhaust & chip will be down the road when the finances recover a bit.
Other mods completed which have pushed back engine mods: suspension lift, dual batteries, winch, on board air compressor, drawers, fridge on drop slide...
It's like unravelling a ball of wool - a big beautiful & bloody expensive ball of wool. Once you start the mods, there is no end! Enjoy
If you plan to keep it for a while, a mod I can thoroughly recommend is to get the Nissan (not dealer) extended warranty, extra three years or 150,000km, whichever comes first. $1300 or so. I'm one year into the extended warranty and it has pretty much already paid for itself - serpentine belt tensioner replaced, cracked EGR pipe replaced, swivel hub seal replaced, and about to have the timing cover oil weep (common CRD issue) sorted out, which is an engine-out job.
As for more grunt - exhaust system, then chip, then perhaps an aftermarket intercooler. EGR shim and catch can are a good idea.
With getting the Nissan warranty tho if you do the usual mods like lift kit, tyres, chip, exhaust, egr blocking etc does that effect the warranty tho like Nissan blaming the after market parts? Like what mods can you do before Nissan blame you for the problem or do the mods not really matter?
Squalo ,thats a lot of stuff going wrong on a new 4x4 isn't it?
Patrol94, the EGR block and fitment of a chip are the only possible issues from what I've seen and read. I don't think dealerships have issues with exhaust systems or relatively legal lifts, the two dealerships I have used don't even blink at it, even when it is covered in scratches and looks like hell :)
To deny a warranty claim Nissan would have to have good grounds to say or prove that a modification was to blame.
I remove my chip (wiring harness, black box, the whole thing) and EGR shim prior to each service. The Steinbaeur is easy, the EGR block a bit fiddly. But I don't want them to get some weird code and go digging for a problem that isn't there... but having said that, plenty of guys leave their chips etc. in for servicing and say that the service guys are perfectly fine with it. But then they haven't had a powertrain warranty failure... and if I were a service foreman I'd note the presence of a chip on the dealers records, and why say anything to the customer? The dealer wants their business... and can then reject a warranty claim if something does go wrong.
Threedogs, yes it sort of is a lot - but all are common issues - belt tensioners especially. And although mine is only up to 75,000km, it gets a good workout - neither Mrs Squalo nor I drive like Grandma Duck, and we use it for serious offroad playing, as per my avatar.
Yeah rito thanks for the advice Squalo i am looking at and exhaust but not sure about a chip if I do block the egr I'll just remove before servicing. I just ordered a 2" lift a few weeks ago haven't installed yet but Nissan here did say it won't affect the warrenty but didn't ask about chip or exhaust but awhile before the budget allows for them to again :(
