The misses is not sounding too keen on this trip but I am working it gents!!!
I am 100% coming though.

Roofy made a typo mate, right link is http://www.environment.sa.gov.au/parks/home
bachelor life... but I love you too.
Double crossing is sounding so good!
What sort of dates would you Vic blokes doing the double crossing be looking at leaving?
Not sure on exact dates myself but If I'm doing the double run but I probably won't be doing the flinders for long if at all.
I really don't want to take much more than 2 weeks.
I went to book 4 weeks off and accidentally hit 5 weeks, and it got approved haha. I don't think I'll take that long off thgh.
Sent from my iPad using Motorculture mobile app
I have both my permits for the great central rd cost nothing for WA and NT free of charge, its just the south aussie parks pass at $150 that charge!
So which permits will those who are doing just the Simpson be needing??
Am I correct in thinking we only need the 1 For the Simpson itself??
yes you need a south aussie desert parks pass but cannot apply for it until 6 weeks prior to travel
That's a pain I'd rather do it now to get it out of the way... hope we don't all forget hahaha.
What is this Simpson desert trip everyone is talking about?? ;)
You can also buy the desert parks pass from the Mt Dare hotel when you buy fuel and also from the visitors centre in Birdsville
Just a quick question, should we ring ahead to my dare and inform them of the numbers of vehicles attending so they can Fuel up accordingly??
Yep, we should put a new post up around May to get final numbers to see where we are at.
And we got to consider the perrals of driving a Hilux across the Simpson while we were in the que. Little did we know that the Hilux that was traveling with us would suffer the exact same failure in the middle of nowhere. Lol
Yeah the que for fuel at Mt Dare was probably 10 long with more rolling in while we waited. The guy just stood at the bowser and pumped and wrote you a ticket.
Bloody Hiluxes!! Took 3 very well equipped Nissan Patrols to get that thing across the line. Happy days.
Hey Darren, how long before the 1st of July (which is the official date for the meet at Dalhousie) do you plan on leaving home? I've got the whole week prior to it off, and have to account for the drive to Birdsville and across the desert.
I've done it twice in a hilux...lol
It sucked big time, engine actually blew in our friends hilux on the first trip that was a mammoth nightmare!!!
The timing could not be any worse for this trip. We are moving the business to Yarra Glen around this time but we've had this booked for about 2 years now!!!
Always the way!
