Not time lapse Mego, but it is a long exposure. I think it was 13 or 15 seconds from memory.
Go to manual mode, up the ISO (mine was at 6400 I think), open your aperture right up as wide as it will go, focus your lens at Infinity manually (so it doesn't hunt for focus), then set your shutter speed to say 15 seconds, and have a delay on the shot so you can run out there with your rum and stand there nice and still.
The torch light came up so nicely because of the smoke from the fire, which is also causing the fore-ground lighting. If I was to do it over, I'd get my mate to use a less bright torch and keep it away from the ground a bit more.
A tri-pod obviously helps too.
You will be amazed at the star light that the camera will pick up that your eyes can't.
