Okay, I have two rails, what does the regulator look like?
Cylinder the size of a thumb that has an outlet for fuel and an inlet for vacuum.... will be at the end of the rail towards the front.
Cool, I should at least have one you can use?
With all this mate why not just start the turbo build?
I am silly broke..... would love to but have not been this broke in 7 years so just need my car running right then leave it be for awhile.
What's wrong with your gearbox? (original)
Can you afford a rebuild kit?
Will current one last a bit longer to complete rebuild?
Can you afford the time to tear down yourself? And mostly are you up to it??
All good Matty as I was toying with the idea of turbo mate.....
I keep hearing things like "Ya should'a done this" and "If only you had been here a couple of weeks ago you could have"
It will be good in the end.... I love my car !!!!!!
The gearbox thing is whats really bugging me... big dollars if I want to do it right, 360 said the box they would exchange would outlast my car.
^^^ couldn't have put that any better!
Onwards and upwards !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Inwards and outwards????? :D
How bout we slap a turbo on to kill this beast then put a lazy big v8 in it ??
How about you lot pay for it!!!!
Got home early and started draining the very full petrol tank....
Will fit a pump first and then look at the fpr....
Trying to get this done today as tomorrow I am flat out with the kids then Saturday off on the Toolangi trip..... woot woot !!!!!
Overhaul your original box..

And maybe the 5th gear upgrade is you need it..
Link fail...!!!!!!
That kit is just bearings, i would atleast throw in a set of synchro's if i was going to the extent of stripping it down but i think thats where most of the moneys is
What a day... Bruce is up and running thanks to a new fuel pump George got for me... It is a high flow perfomance pump which I picked up yesterday only to find it was not going to be a quick swap over.
George came round last night and after a short fiddle decided to take it with him and sort during the day.. turns out it was missing the right rubber bit in the bum..
Got a text about 1.30pm saying it was ready and not long after I picked it up and got started on the install... I was rushing as I had kids to pick up and still had shopping to do and also pack for the weekend.
Started the car and the pump sounds very different.. I think it feels a lot better but have only been able to go for short drives while running errands and tomorrow will be the test.
George wants to tune it all when I get back from the trip and also run it on his mates dyno to see what can be had.
The pump is tiny compared to the other.......

I hope the pump does the job for you. http://www.austtrans.com/catalogues.aspx This mob were very helpful when I was looking at options for when my gearbox died.
Nice work BA. Hope it sorts out your issue.
With regards to your gearbox issues, what's the condition of the bushes on the end of the gear selector? I know if these are worn it can make gear changes a bit grabby.
That base grommet doesn't come in the kit to mount that 38mm pump to a 52mm sender unit
Just got my petrol bill this morning and Mags is getting pretty tired of it... (as am I) not sure how long I can sustain this..
Found out motopass have been charging a $60 late fee, only a day late... thats $120 in the last 2 months in late fees.. they can get faarrked !!!!!!
Motopass is a petrol card so Mags can keep tabs on our fuel use so when it comes to tax time she is not trying to find all my scrunched up receipts... think a basic credit card is the go for petrol only?
Last month my bill is $600 for my car alone but its not that its $600 its the fact I have hardly done any km's... I need to start keeping a log book like George does so I can work out exactly where its all going.
The month before my petrol bill combined was over $1100 and that included the Dargo trip and did a lot more km's and was towing a lot that month.
Saw a TD42 on ebay that suits being used as a donor but no turbo for $4700 ????
yeah wow, thats a big bill. now you know why i passed on the shorty, they petrol and gas was just too uneconomical to run. and gas is just too hard to come by in remote locations. i think between todd and I we spent over $1000 on fuel on the october trip. im under no illusions driving 4wds isnt cheap but that was too much(it worked out at like $200 a day).
i know how much time and effort you have spent getting your current motor working well, and i know some people have suggested it before mate, maybe it is time to cut your losses and sort out the diesel motor. it would cost you more than 4700 tho right? i think rossco said his setup cost around 6K or more?
Yeah Rossco's was about the $6000 mark but he bought his stuff from Patrolapart and said he thinks buying another car is a better option as there were too many little things that he needed that you dont know about until you are into it.
I need to have a serious talk with Mags...... roll over from the auctions maybe??? I have spent so much on this thing lately.
yeah i know the feeling mate, mum and did have a VW Polo, and its been in the family from new. They are really attached to it, i think because it was the first car they bought brand new, and the car that all us kids learned to drive in etc. Its a 99 model, its had the head and the clutch replaced over its life and in the last 12ish months the rear brakes went on it so in went new assemblies and drums, $1000. next went 5th gear, $750 for box + $600 labour. the car isnt even worth that but they want to keep in on the road and not just get rid of it. so now they are in over their heads and its worth more to them than whats it could be sold for. they are of the mentality that eventually it will run out of things to break lol.
i sounds like your there mate, so you might as well make good of what you have and forge on with the direction your headed. at least you know everything else is sound in it and your not just inheriting someone elses problems if you buy another car. good luck with it all matey.
I don't know why i went to car citys website the other day but i did.

The above looked interesting but had me questioning myself as to what is wrong with it. Or is it a 2.8ltr?
Something has to give thats for sure....
Here is a quick snapshot on idle.

If you sell the car I won't be your friend any more.
If you put a diesel in it I will love you even more.
