BAHAHAHA Careful or you'll end up like that movie director who posed with the dinosaur and some very "smart folk" on the internet couldn't believe how he was allowed to hunt these animals and kill such a magnificent creature....
Finally got back into a bit more hunting myself. Made some new friends and ended up on a property and got myself a nice 100kg Boar. Was over the moon when we finally caught up with him. Also got another couple younger ones off one of my properties we have been visiting for a while now. Was stoked.
Then Friday night went out again and got 4 foxes. 1 we couldnt find but he went down hard. Other 3 were younger pups maybe 2 or 3 months old.
Chaps,
I use my GU for hunting and I’m wanting to build a gun rack where the third row of seats are. I’ve removed my third row of seats and use the rear of the wagon for storage. I’m considering welding up a frame from 20mm SHS and using the bolt holes of the third row seats as mounts.
The rack would carry 4-5 guns horizontally “stacked” on top of each other vertically in a “wall” immediately behind the second row of seats. Does anyone have experience with doing so or any experience building a similar device?
It would look something like a cargo carrier but with no mesh.
Before you go expending time and money i would look carefully into the laws around the transport and storage of firearms in vehicles. Its not like the god 'ole USA where every second vehicle in the Walmart carpark has a gun in a rack in the rear window! ( I saw this in Redmond Oregon, which is a backwater town in the NW of the USA and it was startling - no security at all apart from a locked door - maybe.) If it was me, I would contact your firearms division, and go speak with a firearms officer, with a set of plans for review - it could save you the angst if you get pulled up or inspected en-route or even when camping - especially around the 'secure location' requirements.
Ben got his sight in with his new slingshot. This thing is a pisser, nearly took the ducks head off[emoji123]

I finally got around to getting my license, it took about 4 months through covid but arrived just before new years.
Now just waiting on PTAs to come through for 2 rifles I have waiting for me at the gun shop... A Ruger American 22lr and a Tikka T3x Aspire in 300WM. Hopefully can pick them up next week!

Cheers, plan is to bust bunnies and foxes on a mate's farm which is close to home, and give Sambar stalking a go as well. Have also been invited to go with a hound hunting crew so will probably give that a go as well.

Nice Chrisso, I was eying out the Aspire the other day. Very nice bit of gear.
I ended up ordering the superlight in .243 stainless and fluted as it just felt so good in my hands

Yeah beautiful! From what the bloke at the shop told me, the aspire is just a green superlite with an extended mag and rubberised grips.

Finally got it today!

And here's the 300wm, going to the rifle range tomorrow to give them both a go.

@Winnie What’s a box of 20 worth for the 300wm?
$55 for Winchesters and $60 for Remington, very similar pricing to 308 so I thought it was alright

I put 35 rounds through the 300 today and my shoulder is bloody sore now lol. Put about 200 through the 22, that was great fun. I learned a lot about how these rifles act at different ranges which was great, the BDC reticle in the scope on the 300 is fairly accurate to every 50m which is very handy.
There is a steel gong at 500m in this pic, I took 3 shots at it and hit it twice which I think is not bad for a low experience shooter.

Haven't eaten them since I was a young kid so was pretty excited, Sliced the back straps up today, crumbed em and cooked for the kids. Better than chicken nuggets they reckon haha. Ohhhhh let us know when [emoji6]

FWIW: Feral eradication wise not too many decades long ago but all done and legally shut down now, I truly believe we might have had an honest system impact going up along the local Murrindindi grassy clearance power line feed.
Quietly putting along North bound popping Bunnies affront first, utilising older style smaller front winch hooks/neck hooks🪝 for speed of skinning/cleaning.
180 degree U-Turn after 1 hour and heading home we’d sadly have to precisely .22 take out Foxy Mumma/Puppa/Kit’s foolishly always eating the Bunnies previously left road center piles from a short hungry distance.
Not proud, but we did save many Aussie lives in the days hopefully [emoji120]

FWIW #2: One of our Mates back then, accidentally/genuinely ‘vouched’ and brought along a “friend” with a first owned shotty. Trigger happy stupidity he took a pellet duck shot potentially cruel at a deer from some 200m away which clearly missed thankfully!
Tis a tough Gig for our ‘Superintendents Of FireArms’ …..SSAA or whom ever cares should have greater input into licence consideration? [emoji848]
