We lost a young 24 year old veteran last Tuesday, who unfortunately cir-cum to severe depression resulting in him taking his own life. I am still shocked.
It was one veteran that i failed to detect, that was suffering horrendous psychological pain and i feel that i let him down!

The fact that I get home from working at splendour in the grass setting up to get a phone call that my patrol that I Lent to my stupid brother in law for the day has broken down as I bet he was being a stupid prick like he does and was over giving it heaps so FRICKING annoyed as he won't pay a cent to fix it. Hypothyroidism (too little) can mimic depression.
Main reason I post is because a family friend, many years ago committed suicide because of apparent depression in between the time her blood test was done & the results came back showing she had hypothyroidism. It is treated with thyroxine tablets. As an ex psych nurse, I reckon everyone who suffers depression should have a blood test to exclude hypothyroidism, especially as it's so easily treated.
My wife was recently told her thyroid levels were slightly low, possibly a menopause thing.
