Just watching the weather channel and hard to judge but tonight is going to be stinking hot so tough conditions in that region !!!
I think a mostly dry change coming through Melbourne in the morning so a few hours later for the fire affected area.

They'd wana get another 20 trucks there n fast
That Fire will take more than a Week to clear up all Hot Spots as it is in Timbered Country.
Thinking Caps on for an alternative Site.
I was thinking the Murray but unfortunately no 4WDriving
I'm up for anything. The fire is now up to Binns Rd which is near Walhalla
Wouldn't there be some good places after Geelong like around the Otways ?? Or surrounding areas?
Well, why don't we try somewhere completely different......
That whole area will be pretty much toast (not meaning to be flippant).
Has anyone done the Grampians? Apparently some great aboriginal rock art out there to be found (I think some of the oldest in the country)
I think the 4wding is only ok but might be an interesting adventure...

Vic high country is basically out of bounds so perhaps we should all put in suggestions then have a vote
I did Rocklands reservoir at Christmas which is just West of the Grampians. Only 30 minutes from Grampians I think?
Otways is a wast of time.
Wombat state forest could be good
Mt Cole would be great too
Rocklands and the Grampians would be a Massive drive for many. It's 4 hours for me from Geelong
I mentioned Craigs Hut to AB. Some ok tracks around Buller etc.
Walhalla and surrounding regions will probably be closed down, if not burnt. :/
Closed already Tim. Craig's hit sounds alright or me?
Should let BA choose.. it's his trip! ;)
I feel like sobbing....
Where do you want to camp around there?
Sheep yard's ok but will be busy as bloody Bourke street.
About a km before you get to Sheepyard, Blackbird flat is quite a good spot. Most folks drive straight past on the way to Sheepyard. It's on the river, you'd easily fit all the trucks.....we had 8 in there on queens birthday weekend with heaps of other spaces.

Would need to be there at the crack of dawn Friday or on Thursday evening.....

Craigs hut then??
Shall we make this happen
What do you think BA? Probably don't camp at Craigs.. but perhaps in the local area?
I haven't been there much, only sheepyard flat and that was quite a while a go.
Ok I will start a new topic with details..... but where exactly???
No dogs though???
Sheepyards is huge and quite long. Big camp area's for around 10k's along the river. There will be a few people there I reckon but I hope its not like easter or cupweekends up there where every man and his dog is there. Just over the hill from sheepyards there is Fry's hut. Probably a footy oval sized area, maybe bigger and just past there is tobacco flat. No dunnies though and is ONLY accessible by 4wd. All along the Howqua river.
Tunnel bend is a good place to take the kiddies too! As long as they don't care about getting there feet wet you go through a long man made tunnel which was made back in the gold days.
Plus my 80l engel is NOT big enough for everyones drinks. Just mine :)
Talking to a mate at work and he said up that way pineapple flat would be our best bet
Just talking to AB as there is a problem with dogs???
I can leave mine at home but others??
I was just thinking the same but have never camped there. I don't know what the grounds are like and what river is there. But its closer to Craig's though.
It is right on a river he says. Never been that way myself
Might get a few more takers too......
It seems some felt Walhalla was a bit too gnarly.

Pineapple flat is 4wd only access. So I couldn't get there as I'm taking my trailer...I'm out of going there.
Ok we are going to have to wait for AB to talk to a couple of members as he has to bring his dogs..... so no Nasho's???????
So we need to really think about State forests....
I dont want AB to pike because he cant bring the dogs so after he has worked out some shit then we will see what options we have.
It's all turned to s hit
540 hectares now
Bloody dogs....
Just throwing some ideas...Not sure on what it would be like on the long weekend but Bunyip State Park, Gembrook area?
Keep throwing ideas around and I'll have a think too....
hey Winnie look what I found on my travels today.
80 odd ltrs dual zone I met the owner ,Today top guy
There is a couple of spots woods point way. Last time we did a swag trip we stayed 30 minutes out of woods point and had a great little spot that would take us all if there were no other campers. It had a toilet.
Or there is a fair bit of good camping along there all with toilets. Frenchmans, etc. could get more detail on request
Big River is a great area but not sure if dogs are allowed.
Bit close to the fires do you think? See what happens
Yeah bunyip bunyip
The fires in pakenham will not affect gembrook
