Haha! Mine has the exact same sheared bolts there too! I just punched out the captive nuts, then got lazy and didn't do anymore.
Hopefully I can post up in here tomorrow saying I am driving mine around after over two months of hibernation....
I had a really bizzare dream last night I drove it and it went slower than the ZD! And the bonnet wasn't mounted on right, there was 12inch gap between the windscreen and the back of the bonnet and it was painted red. I bloody woke up in a cold sweat!
drove it to the western patrol club meeting last night, looked at Heath from PID in queensland 6.6 duramax and decided that the TD42 will never be enough after seeing and hearing that.
So when do you drop it off for the conversion Stropp?
Winnie at 44k drive out I don't think it will be this lifetime:(
On Friday, changed oils in my gearbox and transfer and both diffs, got the brakes serviced and the left wheel bearing adjusted. Funny I didn't even realise it was driving differently, but soooo much better now.
Gave it 2" on each corner.
Ran all the wiring and fitted up battery tray for the dual batt. system. Ran out of time. Pick up battery Monday and then lug everything off and then cold beers in the back where I may roam.
Made a start on making my front bar. Have decided to use the factory pot winch basket and build off it
Open to interpretation.
Got bogged as fark..
Was supposed to be a quick 2 hr wood chop..
Well didn't that go to shoit. I guess that's what you get when you cut wood on a swamp lol..
So 3 recoveries later and 5 hours lol, we took home 2 trailer loads..

Installed a 2nd mic for the UHF. I needed to also buy an extension lead for it.

Also I made up a plastic plate to cover up the old clock hole. Done to clean it up and make it look a little more professional. I wasn't about to buy a new clock for $200 nor a reconditioned one. I'll just use my watch if I need to know the time while driving. :D

to repair the clock did you see this thread

Took off the IPF900 spotties in preparation for a light bar bracket to be made, fitted and painted on Thursday.
[QUOTE=Majestic;629003]Installed a 2nd mic for the UHF. I needed to also buy an extension lead for it.
A great idea I did this years ago so the mike would reach the OH console.
I've been meaning to shift the mike from the RHS to the left of the console for
who ever is in the jump seat to use. Now Im thinking of getting an extension made
and fitting the mike to the "A" pillar moulding, nice and high and out of the way too.
Thanks
where did you get it made ??
I finished up my second glovebox a few days ago. Took 2 days to build but that included glue drying time. Also installed and wired up a set of working tail lights with indicators. I had brake and tail hooked up to my standard ones bug I needed indicators, the stock ones in the bar are just too low.
I had tried this with 1 of the 2 GQ clocks I have, but it didn't work. I haven't tried it on the other, the 1 from my old Maverick I had about 15 years ago. Thanks for the link, I might give the other one a shot a little down the track and hopefully that one will work.
Thanks I am pretty happy with it, I also got a second clip so that both mic's can be securely mounted.
I bought it off ebay mate, it was $45, it is 1.8 meters long.

In the last 3 weeks, my ' maker of stuff' made me a new light bracket for the back door, cos the free one I got with the rear bar cracked at all the welds. He also repaired/strengthened my jerry can holder on same bar, cos that's what you have to do when you buy cheap. I then rewired work light to switch in dashboard, and wired in a ciggie lighter/USB board in the rear of car. Found two of these in the shed, so tidied up AUX battery. And remembered to mark wires, cos there's shiploads of them
Fitted up my new 24mm tea sway bar and heavy duty links to the back of the GUIV. Sooooo nice to drive now!!!
Fitted new water pump before heading off on my big trip and yesterday a new turbo and dyno time so i hope this is a smooth trip.

John Bennet used to put brass impellor on his water pumps.
That brass looks the ducks guts imo that'll shift some water,
does it have a better flow rate over OE.
John bennet pumps were all die grinded so that internal surface
was flat and smooth so there was no chance of cavitation, might be worth a try
Better than those press tin jobs
Bought a can of MAF sensor cleaner and cleaned the MAF. Had a bit of crap on it and I think it actually made a difference to performance. Taking numbers down now to see how fuel consumption has changed if at all but drives nice anyway.
welded some of its rear bar together ...
Gave it a wash.
Over the past few days I've:
Replaced the main seals on the engine, both front and rear.
Replaced the clutch
New handbrake shoes and second hand drum
Got some extractors and put them on.
Full service including replacing the gearbox oil, she sure needed it.
Washed her.
After changing the back two glow plugs I noticed my boost was down a bit, strange as I was no where near any boost lines.
So this morning off came the intercooler for a look, seems the nylon boost hose where it goes into the boost side of things has cracked where the brass olive is.
Not having a spare I drilled out the old one, works for now but brought a boost gauge adaptor so it sits under the OE boost sensor.
Boost nearly hit 30 with no limp but no gain in performance so backed it off to 18psi.
Not a spare I would normally carry [brass olive] so Ill change the way I get my boost as I dont want this the break out bush. pitb
Just a thought is you have boost issues with gauges fitted
Not sure wether to post here or in the happy thread.
Got the gq back from the pannel beaters this morning.. no more rust in the gutters, roof or windows.

Have just primed and coated black with spray can for now. Going to do a full re spray threw summer. Stay tuned. Lol
While it was apart I took to opportunity to line the roof with some "excess" sound deadening foam that I "over ordered" for the canopy. Wink wink.
I didn't however realise I had enough to do the whole roof. Lol
Doesn't look pretty but who cares when it's behind the roof lining.
Super stoked.

Washed all the mud and grime off after adding 4400km to the odometer after driving from Adelaide to Gawler Ranges, Head of Bight, back to Ceduna, up Goog's Track, across to Kingooya, up to Coober Pedy, Oodnadatta, over to William Creek and Halligan's Bay Lake Eyre, finishing up in Arkaropla and Willow Springs before ckming home. Now avidly planning the next trip. .....
