That would be Koonalda Homestead on the Old Eyre Highway. Camped there in 2015 ! Also bought fuel there in 1972 !!

Yep, That would be correct. My Dad drove an Ice cream van (Mr Whippy) from Melbourne to Perth in the Mid 60's and he stopped here for fuel also. We have camped here a couple of times over the years and think it is a great spot for an overnighter across the Nullarbor.Quote:

First time there I was on a bike with my son. She was very 'motherly' & gave us a great feed for very little cost. I recall she seemed to know just about everybody in the NT!
Second time was with my wife in the bus. We didn't enquire about the cost of tea & scones, & when we came to settle up the price was way over the top, but Fran wasn't someone to argue with! Wife asked to use her loo, you'd have thought she'd asked for the crown jewels, based on the response. No way was Fran gonna let her dunny be used by a mere customer.
She is an NT 'character' though, & I'll probably still call in next time we're passing.
