Rang up Phill at 4wd shed and he's sorting us out with a replacement next week at a ridiculously cheap price!!!
The previous owner had siliconed everything shut, the freespool handle had a hand made plate made up as well.

Nice hot day (for us Mexicans) in Melbourne today so tested the gq out for the hottest day yet since front mount ic.
Water temps got to half way on some of our long ass hill climbs in the area.
Put 4 washers under each bonnet hinges, same time of the day and tried again.
Not an amazing result but temps sat a couple of mm below pre bonnet raise.
Makes sense, 2m wide x 8mm reverse scoop to release heat :)
Or draw cool air in......

What's the plan Stan?
Cut some short lengths of wool from 50-100mm and tape them onto your bonnet/windscreen. Tape them so they face the way the airflow might go. Remember to alternate which way they face and the lengths across your bonnet/ windscreen area.
My guess is air flow in. Like the ram air revears cowls on 70's American muscle cars
