To be honest mate I was very surprised when I moved to Vic, I expected the uncovered loads to be a big deal but they are just not here. In NSW the police are right onto it, it's on a lot of the road signs too "cover your load, fines apply" etc and they aren't joking. Us Victorians have it far easier in some ways hey.

I agree Nic mate, nearly 30 years of scooting around with work utes in Vic have never been questioned once to date. The plumber here got done with an old style occy web version where the officer could reach his hand through the holes and wiggle out a pvc junction from its cardboard box.
Must say, this new to me cargo net is pretty easy though, like Winnie kindly mentioned with his Vic professional work, think I’ll just make it my new daily Nationwide now [emoji106][emoji106]

It all depends on what you are carrying - the net has to be fine enough to contain the smallest item and strong enough to contain the heaviest item it is covering. Always best to have a fine strong net which will suit everything. The net also has to be secured well and not just thrown over with occy straps like some tradies do. It is all about insecure loads (and nothing to do with revenue raising of course).
MB's new one is top shelf!
Seems like cargo net focus could well start becoming a PLOD focus, so following @MB lead, picked this one up today, not cheap but less than the $242 fine, plus 'whatever' they find as they comb over the vehicle.

Net arrived today, heavy construction, in its own bag, very happy.
Picked one of these up at a bargain price, have not been happy with the look or mount of my existing bullbar lightbar, even though it works great. Anyway, was impressed by the one on @MB barge, so deal done.

What are your thoughts on Ridge Ryder winch. On sale for $499

I've had a bit of a search for stripping a Ridge Ryder, because I want to see how they are constructed. My Aldi winch will drag my Patrol across cement in 4 H, hubs locked, 5th gear and hand brake on tight. But the first stage gears are just molded into the alloy case, and the brake is only lightly built.
Has anyone stripped a Ridge rider?
Yep, pretty cheap and nasty. I got it secondhand and found it had been immersed and left wet. It is still going after I cleaned it out serviced it with boat trailer grease.
Some of the better winches use all steel gears and have a hefty brake assembly.
Some switches for the Trol. A push button light bar and driving lights switch and a waterproof momentary on/off/on switch to be used as the external switch for the winch.

First time ever used RACV membership for towing.
Back story
Had a day out out the back of Walhalla yesterday up thru Merringtons past Toombon thru Aberfeldy and a couple tracks just south of Mt Selma Rd.
Coming home had to stop at lights in Yarragon, lights turn green go for second gee what was that, trying to get into second WTF in the right hand lane with a line of vehicles behind me, manage to force it into gear and drive up to a right turn lane, at the same time pressing the clutch pedal in vain. Pull up at the end of the turning lane, now what.
Traffic had cleared so manage to force it into first and started moving, got into left lane and with a bit of finessing got to fourth. So I thought get as close to home as possible then call RACV. There is not a traffic light between there and the United Servo on Dandenong Hastings Road so I would only have to stop if traffic got bad. Only had to wait about 75 min to have vehicle being loaded for final 16 odd ks.
Cheers
Trevor
Not bought but hired for the weekend. A cherry picker to get these Ivy covered dead trees down. I’m not a big fan of heights so this will be interesting.

After being disappointed by one of those huge hand held spotlights which plug into a car's 12v socket, put out a zillion candlepower (& double as a 'heater'), when a friend recently showed me his relatively tiny & ultra lightweight waterproof LED spotlight I was super impressed. First time out we found a Southern Boobook Owl. Decided I needed one of these in my camping & birding armoury. Charge either with a supplied 240v wall plug or direct from a 12v socket, using a 2nd supplied cable. 3 light levels. On the ultra bright highest setting the lithium battery lasts over 5 hours. There are a few different branded versions of these around. Friend's was 'X-Spot, mine 'No Cry'. Jaycar have a version too that I've seen. Mine is advertised at 1000 lumens, the others 700 lumens. I suspect they are all the same. Makes my fancy Petzl LED rechargeable headtorch look like a candle! Makes those huge 12v plug in spotlights look like cumbersome antiques.

Do have a link to where you picked it up?
Got mine from Amazon Australia - but when I looked a couple of days after mine arrived (sent from the US & got to me quicker than stuff ordered in Oz) it was listed as not currently available.
https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B077TVYMLP/
Whitworths Marine have the X-spot version - but their price is $30 more than I paid & is an older model which can only be recharged via a USB cable, making it less 'flexible'. Same as my friends one.

Jaycar have one which I think may be the same, but shows it's weight as a bit less which makes me wonder if it has a smaller battery fitted. Looks identical other than colour.

This is the item on No Cry's web site. US web site so price shown is in $US.
