Which bracing mounts are talking about Rossco?

Yeah they're the ones bolt to the block and go to the bell housing. Kinda look like part of the block. .

Yay motor is all back in and purring like a rough old TD42 kitten. Sounds a lot smoother than before actually and seems to want to rev out better than before even tho its not run in yet. Power is pretty modest at the moment bit will get about 1000 K on it then get it in to dieseltec to get it tuned. Think I'm about done for now anyway time to enjoy the thing [emoji4]

Go you good thing, well done Rossco :-) !

Nice one mate. Keen to see, and hear this beast all running now.
Cheers heaps guys. Keen as to get it run in and tuned then see what its like.

No idle at all, just drive it with a bit of variety of speed and load and give it to it a bit within reason and don't baby the thing which is pretty much what i would have reckoned myself. Change oil @ 500K then 2000K then shes should be all good hopefully. .

So took the old bus up to Mallacoota over easter which was great. All went went well, headed up the back way mostly so hopefully ran it in well was a bit of a mix of hills twists & turns and highway. Motor seems really nice although power is fairly mediocre at the moment. Is off to dieseltec tomorrow so will be interesting to see what it is putting out now and how it drives after being tuned. . . Hopefully good. . .

180kw minimum should be your request
Will be keen to see the dyno old mate!
Yeah she's not ready yet, tomorrow. . . still fiddling with wastegate springs. As long as it drives nice I'll be happy . . .
Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
Shouldnt need to fiddle with them???!!!
Hmm that's what i was kinda thinking. It had the right one in it didn't it ? ?
Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
Yep. Should only have to play with fueling. There will be only such he can do with a manual boost controller.
I'll give him a call in the morning see what he reckons. Said was trying to get the boost curve a bit smoother especially down low. Noticed driving it un tuned wasn't getting much out of it, only up to about 10psi until i gave it a stab once to take out in a gap with the traffic when it jumped up to about 20 something but wasn't very progressive, went well but. Fair bit of induction noise tho sounds like it's moving a lot of air just needs fuel to match. . .

Keep in mind the turbo is only doing what it's told. You do need better boost control no matter what turbo you run. Electronic is the way to go.
Picked up the GQ last night from dieseltec, drives heaps better now. Set at reasonable level I'm happy with, pulls pretty hard if you give it a poke and cruises much better. Haven't had a chance to drive it much tho, had to go out for tea last night. So putting out 140kw and 500mn at the rear wheels at around 20psi could defiantly get more out of it but think it's enough for what I want it for.

Nice result ross. For reference though this turbo really comes into its own at around the 28psi mark and 180kw+ area. There is quite a bit of r&d going on up here so if I can get down for licola then I will pass some of the findings onto you and andy.
Yeah nice one. Andy did say could get some more kays on the motor then get some more boost into it down the track. Reckon I'll drive it for a bit and see how it goes but so far very happy with it and also do want to keep it safe for peace of mind and longevity.

A bw at 180kw is for longevity. Once we start venturing beyond 200kw it starts to get a little hazier but the way the bw generates boost its much nicer on drive train. Remember you are not always using that amount. There is one up here that has been running 200rwkw+ for over 2 years now without an issue.
So took the GQ over to Cornell Diesel in Sunshine West (fair mission lol) the other day. Anyway since last tune haven't been entirely happy with it and was lacking pull from idle up to about 1200 revs. Also cold start had always been a bit rough on this pump (12mm one) and seemed to be quite a bit worse lately stalling on a couple of occasions and blowing plumes of white unburnt diesel even when it wasn't freezing cold.
Just got it in for a diagnosis at this stage and they found fuel looked very sus with most likely water contamination, said it looked like creek water. Pretty weird only thing I can think of is dodgey servo which could have been anywhere between Vic & WA. Anyway upshot is tanks need pulling out, draining and flushing, pump most likely needs a rebuild and injectors could be suspect too. Need to have a think weather is worth pursuing with this pump or just replacing with another unit such as UFI. Also obviously whole thing will not be cheap can do some stuff myself to keep costs down or look at insurance maybe. . .
Also thought oil feed was leaking on block but looks like one of the exhaust studs is leaking which needs to be fixed too. . . Ah the joys of tinkering with cars [emoji6]

Yeah bugger mate, thats not ideal!!!
Shit mate that is not good news at all. Sorry to hear about that.
Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
Yeah good so far, have been very up front about everything. The place is pretty impressive is absolutely immaculate and a pretty big setup. Apparenty AG sold the business and the new guys aren't as good but that was just one person's opinion so don't know bout that one?
Not sure if i feel dodgey or they would be s#itty if I got another pump and got them to install it. Would go UFI. Did mention it breifly the other day didn't seem too pissed off lol . .
Will definitely upgrade filtration after all this, the water sensor on the filter is the only thing that isn't hooked up as part of the conversion.

Sorry Rossco. This is terrible news. The fuelmiser water separator is very attractive after this. Very popular for touring and i see why if this is the end result.
I cant imagine they would care if you buy a UFI pump or one of theirs, you wont be the first person to do that.
Cheers Daz, how you finding your pump and setup, happy with it so far?
Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
Before you lash out mate, get the tanks flushed and all lines drained.
For sure pump has issues but would be interested to see how it performs after that first and maybe another tune and diagnosis.
Yeah maybe need to make some decisions Monday. Looks like this pump probably needs a rebuild at this stage which will be close to the price of a new pump. They're gonna quote some stuff up by then hopefully, see what happens. .

So bit of an update, tried putting in an insurance claim for fuel contamination but didn't go too well. . You need a receipt from where the dodgey fuel came from, who keeps fuel receipts and crickies knows where it came from have filled the thing up a zillion times halfway across Australia. . . Anyways got Cornells to flush & treat tanks which is good thing anyway add sub tank was a little dodgey from the days it was a dual fuel tank so good to get that sorted. Ordered a new injector pump from United which arrived today. . .
This is what happens when you work with your partner and they send it with the price sticking up on the invoice. . Busted lol .

Going to pick the thing up then install myself to save some dollars then get back for tune.

She's snazzy can't wait to get this thing going. Assuming .65 - .7mm is the timing for it. Also glad I've got the fuel system sorted, will definitely sort out filtration for this thing too. What is a good system to use, don't know a huge amount about whats out there?http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...018/09/138.jpg
