My old UglyStick does that too...lol

I have 12....They are 2m long.
I know this sounds dodgy but if Winnie can use his conduit (which will be 100% fine) you and I can use 3 and 3 each gaffa tapped together to create a 3-4m high pole and I can promise that is ample mate. These rods are solid 8mm high density plastic and they will be fine...
I will bet my left one that this set up will be less whippy then a proper manufactured set up.
Ill make a set up tomoz as above Dazz and let you know just in case...lol
Wow the dodgey brothers thought you where going
to check out the ones at the show
Really Andy... Maybe the conduit will be okay! Haha
I use a 'mine spec' centre roof mount with LED that is almost as rigid as a steel pole and an old 27 meg HF fibreglass stick that is whippy as of the front bar depending on what I am doing and where I am.
At 40 kph or less who gives a rats how whippy it is and in actual use the whippy flags are easier to spot in the bush anyway.
I used a black widow sand flag whilst I was driving around the dunes etc around beachport and robe last week. I found it to be extremely flexing to the point it would flex back to my roof rack on the cab when I had the three poles connected. If I only had two poles connected it wasn't too bad. Only thing is it wasn't high enough for legal height for Simpson as it needs to be 3.5 metres above ground
Ps. I have a black widow flag and pole set up if anyone wants to borrow for the Simpson trip. As I can no longer make the trip. I won't be needing it
This is mine, extendable but rigid as and no spring base but I made one up during the week but I think the spring is not strong enough but I guess it will do for the Simpson it's not like we will be doing 100kph or will we lol.

I have been reading this thread about the flags and am not sure what the go is.....
Is having a whip a good thing or not?
Well I'm packed, ready to go!!!
Going to be a long week and a half!!!
I told Rossco well meet him around Renmark way.
Darren and Winnie have we organised a meeting point/time yet?
What day are we leaving? Wednesday? Or Thursday?
Bendigo?
8am 9am?
I am happy with Bendigo at 9am
I had to make my flag longer as I used to cable tie it to my tall UHF ant.
Used a short length of conduit that slides over the UHF ant and cable tied the flag to it
Hi guys,
At this stage looks like I will be leaving mid Thursday and staying a night in Horsham Thursday night, but will see how things go with work, there is a slight chance I can push it back another day. Thinking of spending a night at Mt Remarkable, then probably another around Coward Sprigs area, then one more day to Dalhousie. Will stay in touch to see how things pan out, would be good to hook up with the convoy.
Does anyone know the conditions of the Oodnadatta - Mt Dare road. I'm sure it's all good just wondering slow going it will be? All roads seem to be open and in good nick.
Let us know how you go next week Rossco, would be great if you can get that extra day mate...
Well work something out I'm sure!
It's really starting to sink in now....can't wait!!!
Another step closer... printed off my permits for the Great Central Road today.
My car is booked at my mechanics on Thursday to do brake and clutch fluids and just do a bit of an inspection, and install my new Superior engine mounts and door hinges. (I got real lazy)
Booked for the auto electrician on Monday to wire up my fuel gauge for the sub tank, monday/Tuesday I will change all fluids and pack the car... Wednesday I will sit at home as nervous as can be and probably won't get a wink of sleep that night Hahaha!
I am freaking out, so excited!
Yeah, we'll see how we go, hopefully. You guys got any stop overs planned or just see where you get to as you travel?
It is getting bloody close, cant wait!!
Still a bit of work to go on the 4by. Nearly there getting some new rubber next week ($$$$ ouch). It's sure been getting a bit of love lately :)
KM 2's. It was between them and MTZ's and the BF's won! Can't wait to get heaps of road k's on them and wear em out a bit !!
Rear drawers are nearly done, just waiting for some t handles from Ebay and a few other bits and pieces. I took a bit of inspiration from your truck Winnie, hope it's not copyrighted LOL.
If I had known, I have some stainless t handles here you could have had, I bought them for when I was gonna build my drawers but then laziness got the better of me again and I bought some haha
I made a sand flag pole today... Lots of skills involved and very technical. 2 piece conduit pole! Darren reckons the screwed join may be a weak point and I hope he's wrong but if he's right (he usually is) then I still have the bell on one end of the conduit so will join there and tape the crap out of it haha.
EDIT: Black Widow list the flag only as an available part on their website with retail price $35. I will order one tomorrow.
Spewin!! If they don't come in the mail soon I might have to grab em!
Flag looks good. As AB mentioned I went all out and bought a ridgy dige proper sand flag. At three meters it sure wobbles around a bit. Haven't tried it on the car yet, might put it on on the weekend and see how it goes in the Hills. . . It's going to drive me bonkers I reckon!
