Let me know how you go..
Many say to get the dash re apolsted is around the $700 mark..
Nissan are only willing to cover 50% of the dash so that's still $1000...

I called Nissan a few weeks ago regarding my bubbling dash in anticipation of them recalling my car for the airbag (April date). They fobbed me off and said there was no recall for the dash so they couldn't help.
If they do remove the dash then it might be a good idea if I get them to change it.
Does anyone know if they have changed the material on the dash from that cr@ppy rubber to something more durable? If its the same material then I'll probably keep mine and hide it under the dash mat. I sort of remember reading somewhere that they replaced the originals with a plastic unit but I am not really sure if that's correct.
I have a 2005 GU IV (4.2TD). Around November received a letter advising my Patrol would require the replacing of the airbag. They also advised I would receive another letter when it was my turn to have it replaced.
Still waiting

Received my letter the other week and booked the it in for a couple weeks time. Service guy said it would only take an hour to complete - has anyone else had theirs done, how long did it take? Trying to work out if I just hang around and wait or arrange a lift home...

When my 3L went in mate, they wanted the car all day. Not sure whether the actual job took ALL day, but yeah.
Nissan replaced my air bag last Friday. I took the car in at 11am as requested. I waited around for the job to be done. At 11.30am they moved the Patrol into the service centre and it was completed by 12.30pm. So it's an hours job to do but depends on what else they have scheduled.
I had mine done several weeks ago, service tech did it outside the workshop so I had prime time view how it is done. It took him 35 mins to complete the actual replacement and then the car just sat there for another 50 mins unattended.
So to remove the passenger SRS airbag assembly, remove is the glove box compartment then reach up to undo bolts to take the whole assembly out roughly 12 mins. Remove the inflator tube fit new one about 5 mins then refit everything back. He even had a chat with his mate for 5 mins while doing the job....
What confused the technician on my truck was when he went to power the system and start the engine the glow light stayed on (I rewired it that way so it stays on when glow is on) so he went to tell his superiors and left it for the next clown to check, scratch his head and then give up....really funny to watch.
They would normally tell you 1.5 hour for the job if you're waiting for it.
Regards
OK still waiting for a letter or would I be better off going to Nissan Airport West
and ask what the procedure is????
