You can't handle the U mate, driving a GQ has made you soft!! Lol. I say invest in a donkey, all you need to do is feed it and it will take you to work and up any track easier then the Q too hahahaha
You could just ride a push bike lol but seriously WTF!! Tell NRMA its not your problem and you should be entitled to the car coz if the job was done right in the first place you wouldn't be having the conversation with them now, so either they or the panel beater should supply you with a courtesy car. OR you could just try and squeeze 4 g's out of them and get a full respray for 2 lol i would try and get a pay out and get it sprayed, but my cousin is a spray painter so i only pay materials and the oven and feed him pizza and slurpees haha
You spin me right round, baby right round, like a record baby, round round round round.........
Soo a GQ is smaller then the GU and its lighter with a smaller track wheres as the GU has more stability and better handling
Handles about as well as a whale out of water
Don't slap it, tap it!!!!
You GQ owners just want to impress the country girls.

Your right George, I could not handle driving a GU that would be way 2 depressing.
If I didn't have 2 kids to pick up from School twice a week then there wouldn't be a drama with the GQ coming of the road.....Would of kept my dirt bike and registered it rather than selling it.
Thought about asking for a payout instead, not sure if they would come 2 the party though. I'm in no hurry to find a run around, If NRMA say I'm taking 2 long about it I will hit them up with a pay out then. And yes I said to them the exact same about being entitled to a courtesy car but can't be bothered to fight them on it at the moment , I think his words were "the job is 13 years old and your lucky to be getting it done, we had one the other day with sun fade that we arn't paying out on" or something stupid like that.
If they have a lifetime warranty on their work then you should be sweet, oxidization is not covered but peeling paint and crows feet should be. I would have told the assessor hes lucky that they are going to do the repair or i would have taken to court to get back all the premiums that have been paid over the years the repair bill coz they are giving false advertising....
Also the thread is about which is tougher not which is better looking or more capable, which is more comfy e.c.
It comes down to just a few things in it.
The gu has the engine except for the 3L
The cv's, axils, big h260 diff in most manual models except the 2.8L's
The 4.8L's have bigger brakes so why the Q's brakes over heat on windy roads the 4.8s still got plenty of brakes.
Higher towing capacity I think I haven't had a chance to double check yet so you let me no if I've got that wrong.
Where as the gq has the body and bumpers
U q guys love to say about the gear box but they only put that weak gear box in the 2.8L's and the 3.0L's so you can't claim that one
And if I have forgotten anything I'm shore u Q guy will let me know but just make shore that it is about strength/toughness because most of the things that get brought up have nothing to do with these strength or toughness. It's not which once better its which ones tougher
Just to let u Q's no I bought my 4.8 for one reason and that is to be used off road and that's why I went for the GU + it also because of those so called soft spots its also better for those other things I use it for
Did you know that Nissan had an idea in 1988......Coils all round on their premier 4x4 flagship Wagon, the mighty Patrol. Took that idea from the Poms in the Landy (the only good part about the Landy by the way)
In 1988 Nissan released the GQ Coil sprung wagon way out in front of the Toyota 60 series which got left at the gate in favour of the new GQ. The farmers and Miners stuck by the 75 series and Toyota were left wandering.
For 10 Years the GQ reigned supreme. Toyota brought out a bigger car than the GQ in the 80 in late 1989 using the heads-up from Nissan to make a reasonable car with a number of big floors! (See my Sig line for details ;) )
Knowing that the Driveline of the GQ was a Class leader they set about making it stronger where they could (not many places) using the upgraded technology of the day (Bigger brakes) and delivered a bigger car in the GU to accommodate the family better and compete with the family size of the 80.
But lets face it the GU is an Upgraded GQ..... Hell Yeah it is! Of Course it is! Thats the idea! Thanks Nissan!
Now coming back to reality for a sec though.........
The Nissan Drive train the the strongest in its class. Go to any Competition and you will struggle to find a competitive GU though??? You will find 98% of the field is a GQ running a GU diff and brakes and a GU Steering box and a GU fuel Pump as they were legitimately upgraded by the factory. But..... the car of choice is the GQ because they are smaller, lighter and easier to fix, harder to bend and less flash stuff to go wrong.
Sorry???? What was the question again?
Without a doubt the QU is the strongest, Toughest, Mightiest Production 4x4 in our market.
The Mighty Nissan Patrol.
Fence sitter,..........
Lol
FanTapstic!
Phark still going!!! GU is a GUrly hairdressers car...............not tuff!!!!!!!!!!
I know where ur coming from as standed the both the the Q and U r pretty tough but once I finish with my U it will be bloody tough. As it is standed ATM I'm still figuring out exactly what I'm going to do to it but I'm thinking bar work all around, 3 inch suspension, twin lockers, change from the way to tall 3.5 diffs to 4.11's, crome moly cv's, and thinking super swamper Q78 16's
I wouldn't bother with the cv's comp guys don't even run chromo cvs in the gu diffs.
