ROLLED GU !, the full story with pics & video

Ah mate you have all the luck with people stealing your photos.. We are currently having an issue with this as well with an ex employee using my photos to claim its there work on gumtree but were going to screw him over:animierte-smilies-f but that's another story.

The bar I saw was a good looking bar also but i do prefer yours that's for sure, pretty poor service by the other two mobs also it pisses me off that we can't name and shame this sort of thing but I also know what competitors are like and the amount of false accusations flying around would be crazy!

Yeh I know mate, but look in all honesty, the guys in question actually can do some great work, I purchased stuff from them before, and have even sent customers to one of them after all this.

I guess if you just want what bar work they already make lots of, then its no problem, perhaps because I wanted a one off custom bar, and im "very" fussy when it comes to aesthetics, plus it had to meet legalities etc, etc, it obviously all made it just too much stuffing around, not time or cost effective for them, I know how much time its taken, and id never want to make another one.

The only thing is, I think they both could have handled the situation a lot better, or not taken the job on at all, as it gave me much stress and greif, but I guess they are fabricators, not psychiatrist's, so I doubt they worry to much about my "feelings" :)




Anyway ,I know ive ended up with better than what I would have got from the "pro's", Ive now got the bar back from the powder coaters and she's all fitted, :thumbup:, im very happy with the result, the lights are just awesome now I can see them all working together, the mud flap mounting/release appears to work great as well.

When you hit the brakes, the two outer rings (as lit above) get much brighter than shown, as well as the inner circle/s closest to the white shackles light up very bright.

The other circle is the turning flasher as shown with the hazards (and parkers) on below....

Ive just got some inner guard covers to finish it all off, to hopefully make it all legal :049:

Yes mate , and now at least you wont have to wait for me, while I stuff around removing/fitting my plastic bits every time we go off roading :wink:

Be good at GH too, because I can remain more legal looking (rather than having no bar), I say more legal looking as I will still be removing the rear mudflaps.



For those that don't know, after my quarter chop, my rear bar plastics have been held on "temporarily" (nearly 12 months) with just welding wire and one bolt, as someone who likes to do things right, driving around like this, pained me a lot.

A wheel carrier crossed my mind, but not only would it ruin the look I was after, it would S#*$ me to tears having to unlock the wheel every time I wanted to get in the back :tease:

All going well I will hopefully have new Tyres as of next weekend. Then pretty much anytime after that.

My tyres arrive tomorrow so next weekend?

I bought a slide hammer tonight to start on my scils and yet to book in for transfer so don't let me hold you all back

Well, as the car is pretty much officially finished now (well we all know you are never really ever finished,lol) ive decided I should take the car back to Moreton for the first time since its little sleep over there.




The Mrs made it clear she does not want to return to Moreton, and while im a bit emotional about returning, its too awesome a place to never go back, im gonna go for a week, as it almost costs the same to go for 7 days as it does for a 3 day long weekend, and as you can imagine, it has not been too hard to find 3 mates who want to come over for a holiday, this is great as costs are split 4 ways.

We will be visiting in Jan 2015, this will be exactly 3 years (almost to the day) to my last visit , and as it turns out, we will be staying just a few doors away from where we stayed at last time, needless to say, i booked to travel over on the Micat Car Ferry this time (lol)




Ive organised to get some 8X10 inch framed pictures made to take over and give to a couple of people who helped us in our time of need, Tony, a Moreton local from the rural fire brigade, and Steve who has a house on Moreton at Kooringal.

Someone suggested I should have included a pic of it "all fixed" as well, but anyway, :tongue:




I will also be organising to take Tony and Steve some beverage of their choice, or at least a voucher for the Gutter Bar at Kooringal or something along those lines, ive still got to track the guys down, but ive been in contact with the Gutter Bar at Kooringal, and they should be able to help me with that ,ill probly take them a framed pic for the bar as well if they want one, its a good excuse to go there anyway (haha)

Id have liked to drive the car back to the same spot as the pic above, but the track never again opened, so I guess im "officially" the last car to drive the original Mirapool Bypass Track, but ill be sure to get the car as close as I can (safely) for a pic or two.

Thanks Kat, i am very happy with how the car has turned out, but apart from the car itself, nothing good i can really think of has come from it all, my family has not returned to the way it was before all this, its all cool n all, but in some ways im still paying a cost, and it has certainly left a scar on my life that has still yet to heal.


Thats why, even though i dont want to hurt it, its important i still "use and abuse" the car, doing what i bought it for in the first place, Moreton is the only place left ive not yet returned to since the rebuild, a boys trip will be awesome, but id still rather be taking my family :)

Well, its time to get a bit of closure for this thread, yesterday we arrived back on Moreton Island for the first time since the roll over, 3 years almost to the day, I visited Kooringal, and got to have a beer with Tony, one of the guys who helped us in our time of need, I got to thank him again, and pass on some framed pics (rolled pics as above), one for the fire station, one for Steve (the other guy who helped) and one for the Gutter Bar.




On our way back, I drove the old Mirapool Bypass Track (there is a whole new one now) it took us pretty close to the exact spot the car had its little sleep......

The crash was actually slightly further rearward of where the car is in the pic.
