Is that at dusk or the moon was super bright.
It was the Moon, it was very bright and ruined the sky as far as getting any decent night sky/stars contrast, hence why I didn't many pics.
Only one I took from our run up to Bribie on Wednesday, if you look close on the Horizon, just left of the log, you may be able to see a 1/4 rainbow, to the right you can just make out the faint profile of Moreton Island :D

Did you get the night run in ?
Did we ever, it was one hell of a night run, 3 cars ,5 hours pretty much non stop driving 7-12pm , mostly on Red Extreme, and Very Steep Extreme tracks, it was the best fun ever.
Big thanks to nissannewby, who drove up just to come out on the night run, and whom without, would never have been so epic (thanks Matty made my weekend)

Finally getting some half decent front end flex now, and the body sits almost dead level now.

Love the fact you can take it out for a day, and not a spec of dirt on the paint. Fantastic !
He carries a pack of wet wipes :smileyvault-cute-bi
It is flexin nice on the front, I might have to play with my coils also.
you Just have 2" coils/ shocks and caster bushes the rest is stock?
Haha, Yeh the trick is to go slow through the mud (or avoid it altogether ), I was also taking it easy as I was all alone, know one knew where I was, and it was late sunday arvo, and as well as that, last week I hit a slider so hard (on rock) it bent the guard so still licking the wounds so to speak (lol)

Yes correct, although as well as the guard damage last weekend, I also busted a front sway bar link pin in half, so some flex would be gained by the fact the sway bar is not working, ive never had even half that flex at the front before.
Great panel work fixing that dent.
Not good on the damage Steve! I would have thought those sliders would be strong enough. I've got the same ones.
Yeh they are strong Troy, it was 100% user error, a long story, but i had 50 psi in the tyres, attempted to climb over some nasty rocks, needed to much speed (due to not letting tyres down) and then mis judged the whole approach (on my 3rd attempt), and landed hard on rock with the very outer edge of the sliders (lots or leverage), wheels in the air, then sliding sideways down the same rock, all in the same action.
When my son showed me the powder coat left on the rock, at first i did not believe i could have got that high, but i did, and without the sliders id have badly ripped the gaurd, sill and drivers door.
looking at what i did, and fact that my car weighs 3 ton, i think the sliders did pretty well.
what are you doing with 50 psi in your tyres? I hope that a typo. 40 and the km2s will sit flat on the road
When i saw the pics my first thought was, if thats with sliders imagine how bad it would of been without them. Should try do a rear side rail now that your bar is done? would some what stop this from happening again
Mine like 45 - 50 psi on the black top, don't forget im running 305s and my car is almost 3000kg as its normally driven around day to day.
Pretty sure the rear side rails are only possible on GQs as the rear door flare gets in the way on GUs ? , I doubt a rear side rail would have helped much in this case anyway Lachlan, the front slider mount is the weak point as it does not clasp the chassis rail like the centre and rear mount/s do, but is bolted to a thinner part of the chassis, this along with the fact that the GU guard hangs much lower than the rest of the sill didn't help.
Thanks growler, BTW small dodgy vid here .......

Cool
Not a fan normally of white writing out (unless on 70's muscle) but your vid made me think phark shoulda gone white out with mine ;)
Sorry dumb moment. For some reason I thought that you damaged the rear, not sure why but that's what my comment was relating too.
As for the front, my sliders never really moved in the front, i believe that yours was a hard hit. Not sure why that could be different?
My patrol is nearly 3000kg daily, well was last time I was at the dump weight bridge, and 40 psi is good for me. How is your tyre wear? That will be the true test. I've got 15k on my km2s (identical to yours) and they seems to be very flat. 40 is also what the tyre shop told me, but I'm happy to be proven wrong.
I really admire some of the thought and imagination you put into your shots bud.
nah white writing out same as white sunnies soooooooooo 70s
If they pay me to run their tyres I will put the white writing on the
outside until then it stays tucked inside for no one to see.
Black sunnies if need be and black writing, agree 100% about muscle car
40 PSI max IMO regardless of the brand the ride is firm but thats my choice for HWY pressures.
around town so I have a bit of comfort I'll drop to 35 PSI
Thanks mate, appreciate the comment, even more coming from someone with your skills :049:
Yeh was a hard hit , but its where and how it hit that caused the damage, its my first damage to the white bits, my aim was to go 12months before needing body paint so its all good, the black bits are more sacrificial, thats why i left the flares black etc.
Ive done over 20k on my KMs and tread wear is good, (just checked depth across all 4 with a screwdriver) i do rotate them every 5-10k including spare.
Agree about white writing, i always had opted against it with a passion, and i had lots of 70s cars but never had white writing by choice...
http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...ictures214.jpg
I think white writing really suits the troll tho ,especially that its all black and white and the wheels are black etc

and you sold it "WHY":thumbup::thumbup:
Kids and a house got in the way Steve, id love to have been able to keep it, it was a sweet ride, under the car was as nice as the top , black metallic smoothed out floor pan, heaps of chrome and custom stuff (coilover shocks etc) ive still got a heap of trophys it won in its day, it would be worth a pretty penny these days id imagine.
Somehow new you would say that
wow, great pictures

Thanks man, its pretty hard to take a crappy photo at somewhere so beautiful, especially when you have the lake to yourself (as we did)

Thanks bud, yeh look I doubt there is any angle of the Maheno that has not been photographed before, I don't think ive ever seen a pic like the middle one (ocean side looking forward from the stern), but every time I see it there is a bit less of it, the really amazing thing is, there is still some timber decking in places on the old girl.
(Ill see if ive got a pic of it)
Here you can see some of the remaining decking....
