The wife and i are excited about this trip saving hard and getting the gu
ready for it slowly but will be there
Due to the www.westernpatrolclub.com Kids Convoy for SIDS occurring on the 29th I will not be attending now.
I know that the older you get the quicker time goes but ARE WE THERE YET, ARE WE THERE YET, ARE WE THERE YET,
Tell me about it. Under a year to go.. still so much to do..

can anyone tag along on this trip me and a few mates were planning on going across the simpson around that time
im from dalby in qld, me and mates are pretty keen to tag along
Been thinking about this after I was told off by Daz for saying I will not be coming and I need to have a long discussion with the one who should be obeyed?
One of my concerns which Daz says is not a problem is dual fuel.... the other is not so much the expense of the trip but the expense of preparation, trying to move house and of late am spending a bit on renovations plus what I had to spend after my stupid day in puddles.
I do wonder and was reading about people going in large groups and doubling up on tonnes of crap that was not needed... eg how many tools would you need to bring if everyone else was bringing tools?
I so want to do this trip , I do feel it is not everyday (for some of us) to get to the Simpson or other like destination?
I tried to flick through all the pages but kept getting distracted with talk of VB but will try and see if I can have a read through later...
Hey BA I have embedded that link on the first page top mate. Sorry for giving you a hard time mate but keen as buggery to have you and your family along on this one mate.
I think your fuel will be heaps mate.
As the time gets closer then we will start a section for this trip. All the meetup convoys can go there and a list of tools and parts will be started. I will have most things mate but a set of hoses and belts and a service before you go. Wear your BFGs and your in business mate
Yeah I'm hoping we can get some vbs flowing if I can sort through some slight issues lol like a vehicle sorted by then and go the mighty VB
Jonathan you need to be there simple as that. Going in such a huge crew is a once in a lifetime thing I reckon. Looking into a new turbo for myself then an intercooler and new HD radiator and I'm ready, the rest are creature comforts.
If you're happy and you know it tap a post!
For sure mate.. once closer I think we need to get serious with a good list of supplies and parts, and then split it over the group.
So you have a few spare 50mm shocks, they'll do as emergency for stock threw to 4" lift, but I'm doing radiator hoses and belts so, nothing wrong with them but just preventative maintenance so ill throw them in..
Nothing wrong with dual fuel.. my father inlaw has done the Simpson 4 times in his duel fuel 4.5ltr 80 series. He took 90 petrol and 70 gas, plus 2 jerry cans and never had an issue.. and only used one jerry can once as a precautionary..
So dont let that turn you off hay..
But yea, once closer we'll all sort it out.. still 13 months away..
Just make a realistic list of mods you want and aim for that. Anything extra is a bonus.. I'd love a 2nd tank setup, in reality ill probably just get my 140 main done and 2 jerry cans.

There is nothing wrong with it Drew, it's just the wrong turbo for my application, far too big and lazy. When it gets happening it's awesome but it's all too late, a smaller turbo would come on a lot earlier and improve everything!

I'm offering fridge space....$1 per can/stubby per day. lol Just kidding for all you considering the offer. lol
Hang on a minute Rossco, I think you've bitten off more than you can chew. You do realise we'll be going OFFroad don't you mate?
What kind of kms we talking for the vic crew?
2062kms from Melbourne to Dalhousie Springs, 436km for the crossing and 1909kms from Birdsville back to Melbourne. That's straight there and straight back in under 5000kms.
Those are all according to Google Maps.
About $1600 on fuel on the heavy side.... I hope?
Those kms come in at $1250 for me in normal conditions.
Thinking thinking thinking!
I reckon like Daz said if you had two full tanks at the start of the crossing and take a jerry just to be on the extremely cautious side you'll get by without a drama! My brother in law's old man has done the crossing in his dual fuel 100 series he said he took two jerry cans and did not need either of them.
But which patrol will mudrunnerTD take ?? will it be the "phantom"
He already said he will bring the gu... and no trailer.
Getting soft in his years...

At this point in time I am confident I'll be going to this gents.....Giddy up!!!!!!!!!
At this point in time I am confident I'll won't be going to this gents :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(
Unless I win 1 million in Lotto and I don't like the odds of that happening considering I don't play lotto very often.
The GUIV will eat it up! I will be doing a double crossing. Might even do a triple crossing with a second west bound crossing from the south on the way home....
The options the options! Big place!
My brother had a fight with the old man in the simmo and dad threw him out of the car in the middle of nowhere....lol....he drove about 2kms and then another convoy picked him up. I always wondered what that convoy thought when they saw a kid walking by himself in the middle of the desert.
Anyways not even sure why I mentioned that...lol....oh yeah dragging me through the Simpson would be fun using a wakeboard...lmao
I'm taking extra time too but don't know what to do with it?
